  1. A win on the back of Everton was more than I was expecting or even had the gall to ask for really. Efforts were fantastic, would have crushed more for the players than myself if they hadnt held out. Injuries are our biggest hurdle now. Like Gerrard (and Lampard) but like that these results will get right up the taint of many in the media.
  2. Its the improvement in effort and application from the players he inherited that shows the difference between this manager and the last one. Every one of them has improved. Shelvey can't get into games the way he's supposed to but his efforts are up, Jo is a new man, Willock is getting better, Lascelles was better in the last two games, Dubs, Fraser all better.
  3. Spurs 0-2 Wolves - gutted for Levy
  4. Been pondering the same since Everton. They're in form and better than Everton anyway, Gerrard is the real deal and worrying about an after the lord major's show effect. After today's results more inclined to take it than I was. Keeps momentum. Bit concerned actually. That said a win would drastically change the relegation front.
  5. They were pretty consistently lucky against us. Battered them at home in 94/95 and 95/96 and got one measley point. Denied a stone-wall penalty in the last minute at 0-0 at Old Trafford in 03/04, Solskjear stopping Lee from scoring the winner there in 97/98 and then Speed missing an open goal, Schmiechel pulling off "save of the decade" from Barnes in the home game, Cole injured on the eve of the game at OT in 94/95. And they're c**ts
  6. I've seen Ginola tear the arse of teams more than ASM did Everton in the 2nd half. Boro and Stoke in 95 - his performance against Boro is still the most virtuoso display I've ever seen - It was a much more physical sport then, tackles were allowed - but its also just my personal preference for his style over ASM and HBA's. Was much more controlled and deliberate for me. Cryuff over Giggs sort of thing. Ginola was in the European team of the year when we signed him, had tore the arse of Barcelona for PSG, was the best player in this country initially, was third in PFA player of the year for us and won it with Spurs.
  7. Definitely the case with me - wasnt clamouring but wanted as many in as possible, presuming they'd all be upgrades, to stave off our current situation. In the summer definitely wouldn't want that approach and will happily trust their judgement, think it will be more Botmans than Lingards then and I make that the right way to go.

    Identical to our squad list.
  9. Same, some hitherto unknown mackem/football fan couldn't wait to tell me on my way to maths (last lesson) with a massive smile on his face. Sounded as prepostorous as hearing someone say "Cantona's kicked a fan" under the Leazes a week later. Like nearly every sunderland-facing person I knew at my school none went to games and their only identification as mackems was getting excited at some bad news for NUFC. (Keegan going to England, same rumour about our players having affairs etc.) It stung cos of the Gascoigne, Waddle, Beardsley selling club hangover but was completely out of the system a week later after we'd played Man U off the park and won at Blackburn. Think part of the chanting "Keegan wonderland" for an hour after the game was "sorry for ever doubting you" purging.

Keegan won every derby game he was ever involved with. Beat Boro every time he played them too bar one league cup game. What a bloke.

You've got to credit thier regime for hiring nothing but managers that have made Grayson look good since they sacked Grayson *just a reminder, unlike Ashley, they aren't trying to be this bad
  12. Its so like the Hall/Keegan era. Its now little touches like statues, sponsorship down, improved media allied with doing the big things like new sponsorship, going for big signings. Where it was beambacks, club crest on the Leazes, spruce up the tunnel allied with top signings, extending the stadium and rapid commercial growth.

Thought that atmosphere was class the other day. So did a lot of neutrals. Trevor Sinclair "the place was jumping like I remember in the 90s" Chris Sutton "incredible atmosphere" Neil Lennon "the fans played a big part in that" Lampard "big passioante fanbase that can effect the game" James Lawrence Alcott “ I thought the Newcastle crowd were absolutely fantastic” Crouch "rocking St James Park" Luckily RTG was able to neutrally and not at all delusionally fact check this disinformation Mackem2017 "Must be playing at a neutral ground because this can’t be the famous cauldron atmosphere at St James Park." Aye anyway Keano would have just been a marquee name, an emotional not logical signing, not what we actually need right now, a fish tossed to the seals to watch them clap. On totally unrelated topic is Defoe starting at the weekend?
  14. Point more than Norwich deserved. Not the first time I've said that this season. Man City next at least.
  15. Spurs VAR'ed in stoppage time. Lovely.
  16. that's true, its only after a defeat at Sheffield United in his second season not his first does he start doing it his way and only then can he be judged
  17. Weird how I'm nervous following Norwich v Palace's closing stages when haven't been nervous about a game of our own for years until recently.
  18. down to 9th ffs he's wasting no time is he?
  19. Absolutely nowt to do with us....but still nice to see Southampton winning there. Had lines Levy.
  20. For their self preservation Leeds need to think about comprimising their principals. Have the better of nearly every game but so flimsy defensively.
  21. Foot off the gas for Sunday Brummie please
  22. Yep. It'll make a change to see someone else in the PL instead of West Brom yo-yoing every other season, in the interests of fairness to a Blackburn or Boro or Forest. More refreshing product. Cos of Bruce.
  23. West Brom down to 8th as stands
  24. Is he the only manager (including Lampard in 2 games) not to have won this season?
