This has nothing to do with us. Generally more people dislike Villa than Brighton.
-
The votes for POTY are cast as early as January (maybe earlier), the gig itself is in March whilst our own reviews the full season or near enough

Maybe Peacock isn't that far off for 95/96 when you think Lee, Ferdinand and Ginola were right off the boil in the second half and Albert and Batty were on fire at the end but weren't around for the first half. Still would have thought Beardsley mind. Paradoxically 95/96 and 96/97 are the hardest ones to pin down.

What's 'hard to believe' is that the three clubs below them in the attendance figures make more money than them from attendances, Leeds three times as much and that there's nothing in it with most of those other powerhouses. 20-25% of what's visible on their goals look empty, you can see the seat colouring pattern from some angles as if it was a display. Hardly surprising a fantasist would go along with the official figures

Long before FFP I had few qualms about selling Woodgate who was until recently the best defender I've ever seen in a toon shirt for the same reasons as were debating Wilson. Paradoxically if we dont have to rely on Wilson I'd be more inclined to keep him.

Don't think anybody's doubted his ability and what he produces when he plays, its only ever been whether you can carry someone who only plays half the time

Burnley 1-4 Newcastle United (4/5/24) - Post-match reaction from page 31
Wolfcastle replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
Cant ask any more. Performance and result. Could have been more comprehensive and clinical I suppose, course they're going to have moments, everyone does, would have taken that and a scruffy win. Players back and everything. -
Yeah, that relegation was very much not coming until the name appointment of a non-manager
-
Lost more games than we lost in our worst ever season under Ossie. Minus the high points, the good football and rosy future
-
Should have brought all these ffp/psr rules in then. Except it would have been a shameful c*nts trick and an affront to the sport.

Had phases of being very good but phases of being scamming by levels of bad. Therefore probably rightfully appraised generally. Based purely on his Liverpool/England run. Remember a tragic display for England at SJP and against us the last time we won at Anfield for example.
-
No, it was stated in the post, continuing on how we have been building nicely and steadily which has brought us champions league football already, unless you consider that doldrums

£103million

Arsenal fans walked out en masse because their side which is going down to the wire for the title and is currently top of the league, were losing a game. Considering its as near as they've been to winning the title in a generation its probably entitled. And hardly a new thing for them. The celebrated winning the FA Cup against us in 98 the way we'd celebrate winning a regular run of the mill game in undeserved fashion. They were getting gates as low as 16 and 17,000 after falling short for the title in the 80s, again when it was the closest they had been in a generation.

Since its mostly season ticket based these days, there shouldn't be any drop off even if there's nothing to play for. The figures they give might be "tickets distributed" rather than tickets sold but either way its suss and insecure to give an attendance as that rather than what everyone else does and count the people through the turnstiles - which is the point of turnstiles from what I can see.

I don't/didn't even want us to do a Man City/Chelsea (was happy doing what we were) but all this stuff is madness
-
Tell you what it is mind, its boring as fuck and I'm glad I lived through normal transfer windows with romance instead of this turgid dreck
-
Exactly. They're not bothered about widening the gap if those behind them are hobbled. Its about maintaining the gap.
-
Leeds averaging 36,000 make x3 per match what the mackems who get 40,000+ do. Quite an achievement.
-
iirc Middlesbrough were 2nd behind us at Christmas in 95/96.
-
8 8 couple draws, cant tell which two but if one of them isn't at Old Trafford I'll be well pleased
-
90/91 - the mackems had finished 6th and lost in the play-off final the year before but got promoted due to Swindon's problems, relegation was reduced to two teams and they still managed to get relegated. Fkn hell, shit as they were/are, they're lucky to even have that.
-
Its funny cos even before they were rich and just a scratty southern Middlesbrough or something I sitll hated everything about them
-
That's nee good like, deserved though. Villa have been shoite
-
Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if they lost the next one (Spurs)
