  1. I reckon we could do without Shieldfield

With apologies to anyone who lives in Shieldfield but you'd end up in a lovely little two up two down looking onto beautiful and iconic Leazes Terrace

  2. aye  i used to use Haymarket when I was there but also a good shout, the walkway still goes all the way down to Ellison Place if you're brave enough to walk through the stinky underpass bit

  3. Just watched the game again. Was 100% a penalty on Bailey Gayle at the end I reckon, but the way we were playing we would 100% have missed it anyway, so at least we were spared that little bit of drama and heartbreak

  4. It's hardly iconic like - most folk wouldn't even know it existed if it wasn't next to SJP.  And it's almost certainly no more beautiful than plenty of other streets in town that have already been bulldozed

That bastard leazes terrace was there mind

  was handbuilt by Jesus himself, I heard. Completely untouchable, unlike the Royal Arcade which appeared to look just as good as Leazes Terrace but was hauled off all the same

  6. It's a strange one and I know what you mean from the equality perspective.  If you're playing for your local pub on a Sunday morning then you're opening yourself up for criticism and I'm sure they wouldn't be doing this unless they had a bit of steel about them.  At the same time, a lot of the grief aimed at Donnelly in particular was absurdly personal, and even more absurd to those of us who have watched her making plenty of great diving stops and sweeping up like an absolute pro these past few months.

  7. bang on

I'm pretty sure the Kingston Park support will be as good as ever, but it is a concern that the game after we lost to Manchester United was a real blip in the league, albeit against one of the tougher sides.  Has been sad to see the club having to remove dozens of comments about Grace Donnelly from insta over the last couple of days - there were plenty of supportive rebuffs to some of the rubbish that was posted but it's all gone now, thankfully.

  8. Aye. They didn't play anywhere near what they're capable of and while # deserve plenty of credit for containing them I think nerves played a part, just like they did at SJP. Big step up for them I guess, that sort of environment and atmosphere. Kingston Park gets noisy enough but not like that.

  9. Aye, that's the risk of doing it - if the opposition can use it as motivation then it's powerful. I feel the same about booing referees. I do feel it's more pantomime than unpleasantness though.

Most folk around me stayed to applaud but I saw plenty departing as well.

Just back north of the Tyne now, been a long couple of days but I'm still pleased I went.

  10. We got it back plenty at the end from the few of them who were there, tbf  might teach some a bit of humility. I'm not a fan myself but it's not that unusual a feature of a football crowd in my experience

  11. Grace Donnelly has been putting in some heroic performances that you wouldn't expect of her recently, really commanding, but she was very hesitant and uncharacteristically glued to her line yesterday - not sure if they were drilled to expect a particular threat so not to play sweeper as she usually does - but you could see the whole back line was operating differently to usual, right from the opening exchanges. Ultimately there's no room for sentiment if you want to progress, I guess - I have no problem with Langley showing faith in GD though.

I wasn't close enough to judge how she did with the second yesterday but it looked like it all started from an absolute hospital ball from someone in midfield, Boddy I think? It looked like none of them dealt with the situation particularly well after that was given away.

I can't really recall it but I feel like the first came from us cheaply surrendering possession over on the right wing as well.

that might change somewhat if they decide to expand the WSL, which is quite possible. I don't think it's going to be too long before they push for 16 teams in the top tier, and I suspect the second tier might follow that if there are clear signs that more clubs are investing to go full-time.

Aye, I think this needs to happen sooner rather than later. 12 team leagues with single promotion places are more than a little bit restrictive.

  13. Yeah, that's where it is  that was my first view of the stadium so I made my way to it and that alley was photographic heaven. Wish I'd taken my full kit, there were plenty of people there with full bags of camera gear but I only took my phone

  14. Yeah, nothing but good things to say about the Kenilworth Road experience but nothing but bad things to say about Luton as a venue. Being stood outside the stadium in the rain for want of anything at all to do anywhere nearby will live long in the memory for me  truly a dismal town and a terrible choice of final venue.

And aye, I felt the same about Cataldo. She was great. Amber Stobbs played really well as well, right to the end.  Had no idea what we were playing by the end mind, Emma Kelly looked to be back at centre half.

  15. Aye, Barker plays LW and is always direct and positive, literally always looking to get forward. Great little player. Part of the problem with bringing Bridget Galloway back in is that Galloway literally can't keep up with her

  16. We just couldn't get a shot off - again testament to how well they defended - but I think Katie Barker was the only one really prepared to have a dig.  They played that through ball to Barker on the wing plenty of times, Georgia Gibson from the centre and Lia Cataldo from behind her, but Hashtag had obviously prepared for it and dealt with it comfortably
