I actually think we should still steadily build, take it season by season, build it up, and get there.

Lies, lies, all fucking lies. We need Alphonso Davies in to replace Burn, Mbappe given a million pound a week simply to get the shirt sales in, Lamine from Barca to replace Almirón, and Pickford in from Everton so we can send the cunt out on loan to Isle of Mann FC for the rest of his fucking career.

I’m Manx, so you can fuck off with that talk, tbh.

I personally hope we go out at the earliest opportunity if he’s picked. Lad needs a holiday.

  3. He came in when we were on our arses, and helped us get to the UCL. Will always be a legend in my eyes.

His house was burgled while on England duty. Burglaries can be traumatising , particularly for families with young children, and his form dipped immediately afterwards. If this is the best move for him and his family, I cannot begrudge it.

I don’t doubt they’ve got all the luxuries but as you say, I’d feel a bit like a prisoner there.

Is there much to visit in the countryside/ the cities or to do off compound that won’t get dull really quickly?

I honestly don’t think some players will last longer than a season.

Some of them might like the Red Sea, but the infrastructure isn't as developed around those resorts. Traffic is horrendous in  Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah. There's no countryside, only desert with a handful of archeological sites.

I'd imagine a lot of the players' families would be discreetly based in the UAE or Bahrain.

Living on a compound sounds absolutely shit to me, however luxurious it is.

I’m not really sure how long some of these players and their families are going to last in Saudi.

Been to a few in Saudi. They're bigger than you might expect and have all the mod-cons & shops etc, but the high walls and barbed wire make them feel like a gilded open prison.

The roads and the air pollution will certainly put off a lot of their families.

  6. I live in Abu Dhabi. I never said I have lived in Saudi, but been probably over a hundred times over the years, sometimes for weeks at a time. Been to Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Hofuf, Jubail, Yanbu, Tabuk, Arar and Abha. Abha's probably the most interesting place, but a little too close to Yemen for my liking. Yanbu's also quite nice if you're into scuba diving.

Growing up in Liverpool would have prepared Gerrard for life in Dammam. It's a complete dump.

What do you think living there would be like?

He’d be in a compound with all the other millionaire footballers, living a life of luxury. His quality of life would far exceed anything he’s had before now.

Luxury compound or not, doesn't change the fact that the place is one of the most boring places on earth.

Claimed to be informed but wasn’t and knew fuck all. Living in Dubai seemed to be his USP on why he might know. I lived in London but didn’t know what Staveley and the Reubens were doing but on his basis could claim equal qualification.

Doesn’t even live in Dubai. Lives up the road in Ajman.

  9. At the beginning of the season Noon used to sell our shirts on their website here in the UAE. Not anymore. How long is their current sleeve deal for?

I still think it'll be Emaar. You often see their signage side by side in the Emaar constructed areas, such as the Marina.

  10. Try finding a Castore kit outside the UK and Ireland. They're just a Poundland Under Armour. Having the distribution network of Nike or Adidas and an agreement on sales volumes like Liverpool have with Nike should be the way forward, particularly if we buy a Mitoma or Son.
