Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me daily for 13 years, call me a Newcastle season ticket holder. I'm not even angry at Ashley. They let him do it.
-
Where and whom is that quote from?
-
How does relegation simplify things? I thought it meant renegotiating with our infuriatingly awkward, unscrupulous, lying fat fuck of an owner. When has that ever been simple?
-
The club released that statement about the high court case over 3 weeks ago and it's been remarkably quiet since. Even Keith has stopped tweeting out rallying cries.
-
I'm surprised this thread hasn't been bumped. New contract deals for Gayle and Murphy strongly suggest the club are already preparing for a season in the 2nd division. This, in my opinion, does not bode well for the takeover and I wouldn't be surprised if the crushing news comes soon. It's still on until it's off I suppose but this one has shifted the dial on my meltdown meter.
-
So Gayle signing a 3 year deal and Murphy close to signing a new deal too. That seems to suggest the club have already accepted relegation. It's just baffling any way you look at it. Takeover on, takeover off. Why would Ashley settle for relegation?
-
If the takeover falls through you can stick me down for a resounding "Yes" next year. For now though, I'd like us to stay up.

Regarding the "what is a championship club?" question, in my opinion buying Newcastle or Leeds for 300m in the 2nd div would be better than buying Fulham or Bournemouth for 100m in the 1st div. Even in years gone by, when Leeds were shite, everybody on this board recognised them as one of our biggest rivals for attracting new buyers because they always represented something a bit more than just championship club. Same for Newcastle. The potential is obvious.

Perhaps they have already agreed on a knockdown price if we get relegated, so from Mike's point of view, there are 4 outcomes. 1 Sack Bruce and stay up 2 Sack Bruce and go down 3 Keep Bruce and stay up 4 Keep Bruce and go down Option 3 is the best deal for him. He just doesn't realise how long the odds are. As for the idea that sacking and replacing Bruce costs Ashley nowt because it comes out of the club's account, would that not just mean the buyers ask for the sale price to be adjusted accordingly? I honestly don't know. I won't pretend to understand everything but a gamble on Mike's part, with a sale agreed either way, seems as good an explanation for sticking with the cabbage as any.

Newcastle vs Tottenham Hotspur - 04/04/21 @ 14:05 - Live on Sky

Tottenham are usually shite when they come up here and Mourinho has a crap track record at SJP too. 4-0 Tottenham. -
Perhaps in the early stages of the deal the PL themselves saw no red flags, then Liverpool, Qatar and whoever else stuck their oars in and things changed. The club have released a statement saying they're bending arse over tit trying to sell and pro-takeover journos, neutral journos and Keith Zebra are all on the same page too. It isn't a conspiracy. They're trying. Regarding "Why has Bruce not been sacked?", perhaps Ashley has been assured they will buy regardless of relegation but he'll have to drop his price by however much amount and is now happy to gamble. Obviously we can all see his odds of winning are a million to one but it's different for him. It's like you sticking a tenner on a horse because you thought "Mary Hinge" was a funny name. The takeover attempt isn't off until we're told otherwise.
-
Liverpool managed a 60th minute walkout when the price of pies went up. We're an embarrassment. In fact, sometimes I wonder why Ashley hasn't taken the piss more. He could get away way with it. Blue & red stripes, The Wonga Dome, a cock & balls as club crest...
-
Is he a gangster hidden in plain sight ? Yes. Lots of very rich people engage in activities which might be called "gangster". In fact, a relative of mine fancied himself as a bit of a gangster at one point and had some right dodgy run ins with the Halls and Shepherds. I'm not saying Ashley runs a drug empire but I bet he wouldn't think twice about paying someone to break your knee caps.
-
I find it hard to believe Charnley has influence when it comes to making big decisions. He'll do the paperwork and that but surely Ashley picks managers and signs off transfers.
-
I know Newcastle isn't a normal club and everything but "We're standing by the manager" usually means "We're going to sack the manager".
-
Even though I don’t think it will happen, I do get the sneaky feeling he still fancies a bit of project zebra

If we were to win arbitration and the PL are found to have acted wrongly in preventing a sale, it doesn’t seem beyond the realms of possibility to me that Mike would seek damages. After all, journalists and fans alike have entertained the very idea of Mike pursuing compensation for the last 4 months. I don’t know why you got so much s*** for that post. It might the challenge relegation bit. The sale has nothing to do with that, appointing Bruce and sticking by the idiot is solely down to Ashley. He could have prevented any danger of going down ages ago but chose not to. Would Mike not just argue that he knew he couldn’t support a PL club anymore and so needed to sell last year? If he was a moron (he is granted) yeah but that would be complete nonsense and laughed at, quite rightly. We’ll see. EDIT: We probably won’t see actually because we’ll lose arbitration anyway

I haven’t been angry at MA for over a decade to be honest. I just hate the 50k who have supported his operation. Liverpool or Man U fans would’ve acted. Boca Juniors would’ve set fire to his house.

Horrible greedy git. Hope he chokes on an eclair and doesn’t get to enjoy his pay out.
