There needs to be an objective standard for offsides though. Whether it’s decided by torsos, extended limbs or the daylight rule, we need to be able to draw a line between off and onside. As long as we have the technology to take freeze frames and draw computerised lines there will always be ‘ridiculously’ tight decisions made. What’s the alternative? If you decide to go by whose torso is the closest to the goal line, you’ll end ruling people offside because of their nipples. Harsh? Not so because the next victims of a VAR decision will be asking, “Why can’t we have a nipple and a little bit tit?”

Providing we get taken over and become a sickening indomitable force in world football, I would like to see them back in the PL. I was raised to hate the mackems but as I've gotten older, becoming the suave, sophisticed, chilled out entertainer that I am, my feelings towards them have softened. I honestly can't bring myself to dislike The Madmistake or that man in the red & white dungarees who runs the karaoke.

Are they not going through the motions arbitration wise? Ben Jacobs seems to think it's underway. Ben, I believe, was referring to the overall process, including the preparation phase. As far as I know, there has been no mention of the actual hearing commencing. My blindly optimistic theory is that all parties involved are now confident that a deal will be reached without the need for arbitration and we’re going to hear the big announcement suddenly in the next fortnight. And Amanda’s name on her zoom screen at the online press conference will be “Cabbage oot”.

Simon Jordan is hilarious. "It was a fantastic shot by Haaland. He hit it with such delegation and, as you can see, the Dortmund fans were absolutely repatriated. His father must be marinated."
-
Haaland. Although, they'd probably work well together for us in the 2nd division.
-
I can’t see us winning a game without Wilson. Gayle’s a 2nd division player. Joelinton’s a taxi driver.
-
Barcelona are a shell of the side they used to be. I hope Lionel signs for City just so he can make the most of his last couple of years.
-
Optimistic take: If arbitration hasn’t yet begun, that would suggest there are some earnest efforts being made to get it sorted without all that legal guff. When the news arrives it’s going to be boom and done, yes and ho, haddaway and s**** you fat greedy b******.

I loved that game. Kev’s team were unlucky and their one touch game was better than ours. He really had a unique ability to get average footballers playing great attacking football.

Who’s Ryan Maine and what’s he saying?

I enjoy your positivity WM but is this update... that there is no update? Plus I take what they say with a pinch of salt. They claim to know but there's nothing of any substance in anything they say. Anyone on here, using information picked up online, could come up with similar vague comments like they are. I understand what you're saying but in the spirit of the optimism thread... He did say, back in December, that they were trying to sort out offshore arrangements in order to get the deal done. This isn't something I've heard anywhere else (and I have no idea what the implications of it are) and then at the weekend we've got the plane spotters placing everyone together in tax haven Bahamas. That's the best I can do.

The hearing hasn’t begun or if it has they’re keeping it well under wraps.
-
Is arbitration assumed to be under way now or are we still "trying to get it done without the need for arbitration"?

Rafa + PIF money in the 2nd division. You’d be disappointed to see us concede a corner.

Emil Krafth to leave club at end of the season (Official)

It always amazes me that this club (and other s*** clubs) sign players off the back of one viewing or a youtube video. Our scouting work on Luque was done when we played them in the cup. "We can't get Boa Morte? What about that Deportivo winger. He crossed it for one of the goals, didn't he?" And a little anecdote: I grew up in South Tyneside and all the lads around my age knew Carl Finnegan was signed to Newcastle (He ended up playing professionally in the lower leagues). This made him a big deal at the time. But when I got a bit older I got to know a few lads from Newcastle (St Cuthbert's, Gosforth High..) and they would tell me, "Oh, aye there's a 4 lads in my year and 5 or 6 in the year above and blah blah..." And it made me think, how lazy is our local scouting network? Am I to believe Gossie High Year 10 has 6 kids who are good enough, but south of the water there's only 1 lad in the whole borough who cuts the mustard? -
As fate would have it, Stamford Bridge was the place where Steve McClaren couldn't contain his enjoyment en route to relegation. It's obviously a fun place to get battered.

This is the positivity thread. The takeover's going through, Rafa's coming home and Steve Bruce's crime novels are better than Arthur Conan Doyle.
-
One theory I have on Harry Saratov is that he doesn’t know anything more than we do. Perhaps he did get word from people in his office and assumed he was learning something new since our takeover is no longer in the media. Little did he know we already knew that the buyers were back in and pushing this through arbitration. As for the ‘pain in the arse’ comment, he either hangs out with Amanda or subscribes to the athletic.

It’s a good job we’ve got a manager who knows how to ease players back into the side to avoid re-injury.

He doesn’t need the money but the greedy git would rather have a stress-induced aneurysm than forgo his final payout. Incidentally, if one of his internal organs does succumb to stress and biscuits, it won’t be his chronic cholesterol levels that are to blame. It’ll be those rotten geordies who demanded a top 17 finish.
