Failing upwards isn't a very Newcastle thing to do. We usual succeed downwards. Makes a change I suppose but this has been a shit last day of an incredible season.
-
Now let's score one ourselves for fucks sake lads!
-
Phew!
-
Come on Eriksen!! You've been brought back from death to score this penalty now.
-
Well at least Man Utd are scoring.
-
Hoping now Man Utd can score against a ten man Villa. Utterly ridiculous.
-
Fucking hell. Don't deserve Champions League if this is how we play. Abhorrent.
-
A good sub by Howe. Gordon continues his awful run of form.
-
I'm stating a fact, were worse without him. We've won ONE game of football in the last four since missing Joelinton. That one game was against already relegated Ipswich. It's not an excuse as much as it is an actual reason.
-
Joelinton being out has killed us in these last three games. Completely messes with the way we play and actually win games.

I'd be fine with a loan. But only if we have appropriate cover in CM to allow that. Which means Willock and/or Longstaff can't be sold without replacements coming in. So that's three CMs needed if Miley also goes, which I really cannot see happening. Being in Europe next season though means we can't really allow anyone homegrown/home trained to leave really. So I think it's a no go, unless crazy money is involved and with it being Palace I doubt it is.

I'm confident we'll win. I just don't want us to be going into the final 10 minutes of this game only leading by a single goal. Especially if Villa, City, Chelsea/Forest are winning. That would have me sweating.
-
Even if that's the "overall package" you'd have to assume that the initial fee is over 100M. No way Leverkusen agree to only see potentially half of that fee upfront.
-
Insane price. That's their big signing for the summer done then. If I was Harvey Elliot I'd be getting out of there ASAP. He'll barely play next season if he stays.
-
Reading between the lines on Isak, I reckon he plays from the start.

In the day or so after losing against Arsenal I was really desperate for us to win against Everton and get back into Champions League. I then had the thought about whether Europa League would be better for us and actually having a shot at winning that would be incredible. I'd made my peace with potentially not making the top five. Seeing that game last night I'm now firmly of the opinion we NEED to get into the top five this season and I would be extremely disappointed with anything else. This summer could be quite incredible if we've got Champions League in the bag, I think it might be slightly underwhelming if we don't.

Looks like that Juve shirt from a couple of years ago. Stripes look dark grey rather than black.
-
Hope they've got some good "adidas originals" stuff available by middle of August. Need something decent to take away to USA with me.
-
I'd rather not. I think he decent, but I feel like there's better out there for that price. Plus he's been a bit of a busy job this season. Only got one red card but he's been involved in more than a few hot headed moments where's he's been lucky to get away with it.
-
I'd be shocked if they don't. Villa with something to play for and Man Utd cocks to suck. Stupid really as that Villa game will be shit if we go ahead by a couple before HT, they'll have nothing to play for really.
-
Liverpool game on TV. What a terrible decision that we all knew was going to happen, because that's what always happens. Think of the most stupid game to put on TV and sky will do it. They've got to get their scouse pundits on at every available opportunity.

Yes, it absolutely is. But that's not how we are set up, players make movement and runs based on when teammates switch the ball onto their striking foot. We've been playing with the same CB pairing for a while now (left footer at LCB and right footer at RCB). Same thing happens at fullback. There's a reason Tino and Barnes work so much better than Tino and Gordon on the left and it's why Hall and Gordon was such a good partnership. Hall as a left footer will naturally pass the ball down the line, towards the corner flag for Gordon to run onto, but Tino is always slightly further inside using his right foot, so his passes to Gordon/Barnes head towards the corner of the opposition box, which is exactly what Barnes wants as he drives towards goal but it's not what Gordon wants as he prefers to move out wide, face his player up and then make his move.

Seeing all these mentions about how many Everton have lost and conceded etc. but all form kind of goes out the window on the last day of the season with teams who have absolutely ZERO to play. If this were at Goodison I would be extremely worried but it's not. The only thing that can scupper us is our own players letting the pressure get to them. They've proven this season that in the big game they have the balls to get the job done. We'll win, we'll get UCL and all will be well.
-
It's a shame he's left sided/footed really. Him and Burn would make an excellent pair. We've actually missed his passing into midfield more than I thought, I guess because Tripps has been doing it recently and Hall did it until he got injured. But Botman was superb today and firing that ball between the incoming attackers and their midfield into Tonali/Barnes and Gordon.

Both their starting CBs missing but tbh their back 4 won't look THAT bad. Young - O'Brien - Keane - Mykeleno Its shit but it's not like they'll have to play any youth players or something. They are all decent enough Premier League defenders for a bottom third team.
