McQuinn should have maybe scored, but Bailey certainly. Dunno what he tried. Yes Liverpool were much better. That defence tho will not be enough for them.
-
Villa got couple of decent chances tho. Should have scored.

Yes, he has been thrown in the deep end. Did well againt Pool and Villa, I have every faith in his ability. Integrating takes time and Howe will sort this out. No worries. -

I think it was clear from the start he would be Longstaff replacement/upgrade. Problem is that when Bruno has the ball and opponent is in middle block, there is a huge gap between our midfielders and the lone striker. RCM and LCM seems to be close to the winger to provide support there, but it means we are forced to play to the wings and lose the ball quickly. We need our players to be brave and try to exploit the half spaces. That is why someone like Maddison would have been a good player for us. -

Yes, that was played poorly, but our tactic seemed to be to press them and keep them low. Hopeless long balls should be treated when there is 2v1 at the back. Second goal was a horrible mistake and a moment Liverpool were just waiting -

Their first goal came to Nunez from Botman's ass and heel man.. -
In a double pivot. Not as alone no 6 like a traditional DM. And again, I don't see Tonali being the solution. Even his passing stats clearly shows he is not a player for that position. Bruno's passing is better, but my god he takes too much time on the ball.
-
Tonali has not played as a no 6 for Milan.
-
One thing that I have noticed is, that he really has weird technique to strike a ball. I mean, he really very rarely makes long passes, and seems to take an age to load a a bit longer pass. He had a good shot against Villa, but seems like he can't kick the ball hard easily. Like Tonali who plays quick long one touch pass behind the defensive line or switches play to other side. Bruno always plays the shorter passes.

Maybe because PIF's targets are 4-5 years on? We are not ready to compete with the big boys every year. Just look at our squad. We have a revenue and wage bill something like half what Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs etc have. Of course we will be right at the top and stay there, but not just yet. We vastly overperformed last year.

Yes, of course we could. I just think we will get this sorted, and tbh we were unlucky against Liverpool and 6/12 would have been a good start. -
We do not need DM, we need the players to have clear roles. Seems like it just takes time to integrate Tonali to that midfield. But the thing is, we are horrible under press. Bruno comes to collect the ball, is facing his own goal, and no support.

To be honest, Burn cannot play centreback. I like the lad, but he is awful with the ball, and when Ferguson dropped from the line, Burn was too scared to follow. When we are playing with no no6, CB's have to step in. Lascelles did that when he came on. There is so much to do for Howe. We will be in the top 6-8 again, but defensively we are nowhere near good enough. -
People have to accept we will not be top4 this season. We were good last season, but our squad is nowhere near costant top4 material. Our play is predictable, and we try to get over it by intensity. We look clueless with the ball against low block, and very open on the counter. You cannot play football when the whole midfield is pushing high and no one is protecting the line when we lose the ball.
-
I think the new look midfield makes it hard for him. Opponents press him hard now every game. Joelinton(or who LCM is) and Tonali should make themselves available faster.

Second to every ball, losing every duel in midfield. -

Great shot. Again, for the 10000th time space in front of our back4. How fucking difficult that is to spot? Burn backtracking there and bam. -

We are getting totally outclassed here. Same as last year. -

Tonali's clearance was poor, but the shot it 30-35 yards away. I mean, yes you can block it, but if you trust the keeper you let the guy hit that. Poor from him but awful from Pope. We are still in it tho. -

Isak is so isolated there. Almiron is starting very wide, as is Gordon. So when we get the ball in dangerous areas, it's something like 1v4 or 2v4 in the box. -

Burn is so bad with the ball its laughable. Joelinton is way off the pace, and doesn't help anyway. I would bring Andersson for Joelinton. -

Again we created when Isak came to collect deeper and created an overload in the middle. Should use it more, Brighton are doing it all the time. -

There is too much distance between our players all the time. Trippier gets the ball and there is nowhere near. Cannot keep the ball if there is no support. -

Again there is loads of space infront of our back 4 when we lose the ball.
