I've actually written Wissa off for the first half of the season. If he still is only good for a few minutes off the bench by December 14th may as well have him go to AFCON and use it as a pre-season and, all being well, come back ready to go for the second half of the season.

People saying they'll just pick him anyway, it does state in Hope's (I know) piece that talks are ongoing. Suggesting he/we may be trying to work something out with the federation to not pick him, rather than them not picking/picking him based on injury reasons.

Not going to AFCON would be huge. Otherwise we'll just be getting him up to full match fitness and then it would be time for him to head off.

I've been rejected in every ballot since Spurs last season. However I now feel bad complaining as somehow my dad won that member of the match thing for the Fulham game, so we're getting to go in the directors box area for that.

In order Bruno Burn Trippier Honourable mention to Tonali, who is now our best player and will likely replace Trippier on my list by the end of this season.

I've thought this since the end of last season. Genuinely wonder if it's the same sort of deal as Ronnie O'Sullivan playing left handed to help himself concentrate. Think he stays way more switched on when playing on the left.

Huge opportunity for this lad now. Remember Isak had to be thrown straight in as Wilson was injured, and he caught Liverpool cold. Hoping for something similar from Woltemade. Think people talk about players needing to adapt to the league, but there will be an initial few games where the league will be adapting to Woltemade as well.

Hoping this is just a precaution. Can see him getting back yesterday and the club feeling like they really should get a scan rather than just have him train/play without knowing.

Reckon he will chip in with 15+ this season. With Woltemessi adding an additional 7-10 as he beds in. Also have a feeling Wissa is outscoring both Sesko and the rat this season. Isak is going to need to adap to having wide players who's first thought isn't to look to get the ball into him. Salah on the right and potentially Ekitike on the left. Neither have the Murphy mindset of actively looking to create chances for other people over themselves.

To be fair to the lad, after the past 48 hours he's had I imagine he's knackered. Probably can't wait to get on that long haul for intenational duty to get some peace.

Think if Wissa get's two solid 60+min showings for Congo under his belt in the break he will likely get the nod, with Woltemade coming off the bench on 60ish mins.

At the start of this window I would relish every update in this thread. Glad to see the back of it for a few months. For me anyway.

This is going to be pretty interesting. The style we play means I'm pretty sure Howe will play the more match fit player v Wolves, which would be Woltemade, who's had a full pre-season and a league game under his belt. Wishful thinking, but if hits the ground running it could actually be hard for Wissa to get in. especially with AFCON being earlier this year.

First AFCON game for Congo is 23/12 funnily enough.
