  1. £10-15m/year amortisation, £6-8m/year wages I reckon. Assuming £50-65m transfer fee and £125-150k/week wages
  2. They could be in a position where they could afford the sort of fee that would get our attention, but would they want to go that high? Lets say the figure is north of £150m, that'd make him the second most expensive player in history. I know there's transfer fee inflation etc. but with VVD and Salah approaching the end of their time at Liverpool, they could get three excellent players for that.
  3. The home kit I don’t mind. I can see what they're trying to do and it definitely looks better on/in person. The green kit is pretty inoffensive. Personally I prefer it to the Castore one, certainly there's nothing wrong with it. The green doesn't bother me either, we're owned by the Saudis, their money has played a massive part in getting us where we are so I take the rough with the smooth. This one though...I don't even know what they're going for. They've taken a very unique shirt (I didn't and don't like it but that's subjective) and taken everything unique about it away, just leaving a rubbish combination of colours. Really, they should just give @Kid Icarus the gig - sack off the design team and let him crack on.
  4. I dont think we would necessarily need a 20-goal striker. One 15-goal striker, an extra 5 from RW and 5 from midfield and we've covered the goal contributions. When we sell Isak, hopefully for a lot of money, we will invest that in two or three players. We'll struggle to replace him but we will have an opportunity to make the squad stronger.
  5. Ok but answer me this....have you ever seen him and Mitchell in the same room at the same time?
  6. Could it be forum-favourite Maghnes Akliouche?
  7. By all accounts we made our pitch to Delap (along with a few others) and he chose Chelsea. I haven’t seen any reliable links to Cherki. So I don't think we've missed out on anyone (so far) by moving too slowly.
  8. Howe wanted deals done early so we don't "miss out" on targets. Who have we missed out on so far due to not moving quickly enough?
  9. Was that when Edwards basically said everyone needs to stop reporting about the new stadium until the club announce something...then continued to write articles about it every other week

    João Pedro

Anyone fancy a game of spot the difference
  11. But they've just spent £20m on a cent....oh right
  12. Why wait though? Stick PIF on the training kit for £5m/year and that's a £100k/week wage rise for Isak paid for. If the rules get thrown out completely then great, that £5m is now £50m. But why lose out on potential income now on the basis that the rules might get binned off at some point in the future?
  13. He's not really a punt though. Assuming the reports are correct, we've scouted him extensively and have been interested for quite a while. Would we rather have him and £33m to spend elsewhere (eg on a midfielder) or Elanga at £50m?
  14. That's the key part. He wanted to move early so we don't miss opportunities but which opportunities have we missed? Cunha was never really an option and Mbeumo was going to be out of reach wage-wise whether we made our move on day one or not. Delap we clearly made a play for but he chose Chelsea. I can't think of anyone we've missed out on because we haven't acted quickly enough, which is what Eddie was worried about.
  15. Look forward to seeing him stood on the touchline, ready to go, just as the full time whistle goes
  16. I agree with TCD for the most part. The odds are we'll lose one or possibly two of our top players next summer, hopefully for a substantial amount of money. Getting Champions League football again doesn't guarantee those players staying but it does make us a much more attractive proposition to the players we look to recruit. How we invest that money from selling Isak, Tonali, Gordon, whoever matters and we'll be able to bring in a much better calibre of player if we have both the money and the prestige of repeated CL qualification.
  17. Harms their cause if anything. It just shows that they're going to protest against it regardless, rather than waiting to see what the proposal is, assessing the potential impact and challenging it accordingly.
  18. Never know, he might get the Bayern job off the back of it...
  19. I'm very confident that he's just made that up. Never given any indication that he has any sources whatsoever.
  20. You're punctuation is terrible
  21. Key quote imo. Leaves a fairly small pool of potential candidates.
  22. True, but we're still paying the wages and amortisation of pretty much every player we've signed since the takeover so that £70m deficit dropping off is only part of the story
  23. We actually collected more points from the teams who finished 14th-20th (39) than anyone apart from Liverpool (40). The problem was the 10 points we picked up from teams finishing 8th-13th, only the three relegated teams got less than that. Man Utd, West Ham, Palace, Brighton, Bournemouth, Fulham - I'm no tactical mastermind but I don't remember those sides just parking the bus and us being unable to break them down? Edit - sorry it was Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford, Fulham, Palace, Everton
  24. Someone reasonably reputable (can't remember who) had said that they could have announced something like Man Utd did - they know what they want to build and where - but they want to speak to the council etc to make sure they will be able to do what they say they're going to do. Still, it's the regular pre-announcement announcements that are annoying. Stop setting deadlines if you can't meet them ffs.
