  1. Especially as if we're talking about profitability and sustainability then underselling is considerably worse than overselling. Of course if profitability and sustainability weren't really the point of the rules...
  2. As I understand it the Lords don't really have a huge amount of legislative power and I'd be very surprised if any sitting UK Government waved through any legislation quite as on-the-nose as that but it does speak to the collective pants-shitting that has been going on. Remarkable really seeing as, in the grand scheme of things, we've achieved fuck all and 18 months after our Champions League qualification we're still reportedly in "sell to buy" territory.
  3. Absolutely, and it'll be really interesting when (and I'm assuming it's a "when" rather than an "if") we get something more concrete how people's opinions change or otherwise
  4. That's a really succinct way of summarising my opinions too. I'd 100% prefer to stay at SJP exactly as it is now than move more than a mile or so away from the current location. However, I don't see any real, substantial difference between a considerable redevelopment or rebuilding on the current site versus a new stadium up the road. To use @Heron 's analogy about the house, is it still your house if you knock the whole thing down and rebuild it? Is it still your house if you re-build it in your back garden rather than on the exact same foundations? The answer to that is going to vary from person to person obviously.
  5. That's the point I was trying to make earlier, its a nuanced issue and making broad, sweeping statements (something I am guilty of too) doesn't encourage reasoned discussion. ...what were we saying about ignorance again?
  6. I think suggesting that those of us who are leaning towards a move have just been "seduced by smoke and mirrors" is a little bit patronising? None of us know what might be in terms of what a new stadium would offer, but I do know what currently is and I see a dated stadium with stands that either won't generate an atmosphere (East) or have any noise created leak out into the stratosphere (Leazes/Milburn). I see a hodgepodge of stands that bare no resemblance to the ground that stood any more than 30 years ago so I don't get all misty eyed about playing on the same turf for the past 140+ years. Not one of those stands hasn't either been redeveloped or rebuilt in the past 35 years. I also see thousands locked out every week and more seats = more chance to get in. That doesn't mean "100k seats for a fiver each!" by the way... Anyway, as you say we all have our opinions and until we see a concrete plan of what they're actually looking to do, we're all just talking about what is or isn't possible. But I would say at least give those who hold a different opinion to you a bit more respect than suggesting we've been poor, ignorant souls lured in by snake oil salesmen.
  7. If we were really going to drop £50m+ on Guehi just weeks after the scramble on 30th June, knowing it would put us in exactly the same position a year later...
  8. I much prefer it that way to generic pre-written answers that aren't actually answers at all. If he has come in and basically had to go along with what the previous targets, plans etc were (and it makes sense that that's what happened) then I have no issue with him saying so. Likewise I have no problem with him calling out our previous transfer activity. We were scrambling around at the end of June trying to avoid a points deduction so something has gone wrong and if those involved want to brush over it or pretend everything was hunky-dory then they're going to make the same mistakes again.
  9. That's at least in part because Spurs have the PSR headroom and don't use it, it's much more of a business decision than a football one. The suggestion from our owners is that they will look to spend the maximum allowable under the rules.
  10. If that stat about earning more than twice as much in terms of revenue is correct, the decision has been made already. By the latest accounts that's an extra £40m+. The question now is where and really Leazes area is the only option isn't it? I'm assuming most people voting for a new stadium are assuming it's either there or somewhere else close by so if they go outside the city there's going to be considerable backlash.
  11. Didn't realise until I did that how many kits I don't actually like...
  12. Presumably at least part of it will be our favourite word - amortisation. eg. Isak cost £63m, I'm not sure how much of that was paid up-front but assuming all/most of it then we'd need £63m cash but only £12.6m would be on the years accounts. There's £50m straight away. Gordon I'm fairly sure was £45m cash because Everton needed the money so that's £45m versus £10-15m on the accounts.
  13. I can't remember the prices but I took my daughter to the Alnwick and Barnsley games and I'm fairly sure they were cheaper than £8. She's only young and I remember thinking that at £3 or whatever even if she decides she's bored or cold we can just go somewhere else and I've not wasted much. Maybe I'm just tight but more than double that amount and I'm less likely to think that way. As it is we were away anyway so we couldn't have gone regardless. I appreciate the argument that this is two tiers above those games but in the grand scheme of things a 6yo isn't going to notice that difference and a 30+yo who never watches anything below the mens Championship normally is not necessarily going to think that difference in quality justifies the extra expense.
  14. "OK it's a Christmas jumper so big smiley face! ... Doesn't have to be too OTT just a nice, happy smile! ... How about a little smirk? ... OK, the pissed-off drug dealer look works too"
  15. The "-" key is next to the "0", easy mistake to make
  16. "Retro" in the same way WWI, the Global financial crisis and the AIDS epidemic were "retro"
  17. I don't know whether he wants to murder me or f**k me
  18. From a PSR perspective yes so an £80m sale, assuming the 10% sell on claim is accurate, is +£46.8m on the PSR calculation.
  19. I think £40m would be the biggest sale from the Championship by a considerable margin, apart from teams who were selling the summer they got relegated (eg when we signed Barnes). Watkins (£30m) would be the most expensive transfer from a Championship club.
  20. How much would Osimhen be available for? With my very limited football knowledge he's the only one I could think of as a possible direct replacement that would potentially be available.

    Marc Guehi

Summer maybe. He's still got a while on his contract, Leverkusen look to be challenging for CL places and he's played every minute of every game so far. Would take a monumental offer in January I reckon.
  22. Considering it's £300+ per person in any of the hospitality sections, that's not a bad deal.
  23. "Adidas you are so uncreative these days" "Here's a plain black and white shirt with a c.1995 clip art magpie on it" "Perfect please take all my money"
  24. Let's be honest, if they do drop out of the top two in the next few weeks and don't get promoted, nobody will even remember their brief spell as leaders. The season is only 15 games old and they're only ahead of Sheff Utd because of a points deduction
  25. Clear evidence today that he's working out how to solve some of the problems we've had. It'll not work out every time but a massive positive going forwards. Liked the in-game changes too. Well, apart from bringing Osula on after 97mins but I can let that slide
