Don't disagree at all with your last paragraph there but in terms of income, and assuming we're talking pure capital investment rather than loans... An extra 10k STs at £700 each = £7m/year An extra 8k "general sale" seats at £50 per game = £7.5m/year An extra 2k Corporate at £7k each = £14m/year Obviously these are all just numbers plucked out of thin air but that's just shy of £30m/year which I think is more than we got from our soirée into the Champions League. I haven't included in that any potential naming rights, extra fixtures from cup or European games or other things like concerts etc.
-
I just can't imagine Northumbria Police agreeing to 40k+ Newcastle fans descending on Sunderland every other week. I don't doubt that SAFC would potentially be up for it but it'd be a massive issue with the amount of absolute doylems on both sides.

If they want a truly world class stadium that will stand the test of time on the current site, that's not going to be whacking another tier on the East/Gallowgate Stand. You're going to have to gut it, quite possibly demolish entire stands. Not only does that create a logistical nightmare (how to you house the current ST holders?) but it's also a financial issue. Let's say we lose 10k seats at a time, even at the cheap end that's £500k per home game we're down. That's £10m over 19 home games, not including cup/European games. Our PSR position is going to be precarious as it is without being an extra 8-figure sum down every year.

Unfortunately for them, the clue is in the name. Season ticket. I should say I am someone who wouldn't be able to stand for 90+min and used to have a ST in the exact area I'm talking about.

Will Osula: Goal vs Man United nominated for PL Goal of the Season

I thought he looked alright. Put it this way, if Isak and Wilson are both unavailable I'd sooner have him up front than putting Gordon in there. -
Was always on the cards, presumably the reason this season's home kit was a tribute to the early 00s design rather than the grandfather collar one.
-
If they want to improve the atmosphere, first you extend the standing section round across the lower tier of the Gallowgate. If your ST is there and you want to stand, good for you. If you don't, ST holders in other parts of the ground get first dibs, you get a seat somewhere else. Secondly you stop L7 being the "family area". Next to the away fans is where the most vocal support should be. Finally, you make the standing areas a specific category on the ballot. If you don't want to stand then apply for a different category. Ensures the standing areas are populated by like-minded fans who want to stand and make plenty of racket.

We don't demand a team that wins, we demand a team that tries and also plays in the single greatest stadium ever constructed.

Everton's new stadium hasn't cost anywhere near £1.6bn and that involved having to build on a dock. Anyway, assuming it would be an extra £800m then you'd assume at least part of the £25m/year is coming from Stadium sponsorship and the remaining cost per seat would include a considerably larger share of income from corporate. Plus, at least part of the benefit in a shiny new super-stadium to the owners is that it increases the value of the football club in general.

It does feel like there's a steady drip-feeding of information starting to come out now. Firstly it was the COO saying they "only want to write the cheque once", then the recent reports about the FAB meeting, now this article. It all feels quite deliberate, although that could just be me reading too much into it. Suggesting it could cost £1bn to redevelop SJP, Everton's new stadium is going cost less than that I think?
-
I knew that was you

I don't have an issue with an American lass on the FAB at all, if anything I'd encourage more representation of fans from abroad. However, having someone who literally supported another club up until the takeover? And we're not talking some 8-year-old kid buying a Barca top on holiday in Spain, this is the sort of "fan" who would quite possibly jump ship again if the wheels came off in the future. Then we've got an Arsenal/Liverpool/whoever fan on Newcastle United's Fan Advisory Board - advising the club on behalf of the fans on key decisions that will shape the future of the club we (and many others around the globe) will support until the day we die. Personal insults, giving her grief in person or on social media etc is not on, but it's a poor call having her on the FAB.

Last game was garbage but all you can ask for once that game is over is a response and that's what he got out of the players today. Huge opportunity to keep the momentum going midweek then at Everton.
-
That'd still massively reduce our income, not just from the 12,000 less capacity but all the corporate etc.

Newcastle United vs. Manchester City: 28/09/24 @ 12:30 (TNT Sports)

Mbeumo would have been my choice. Could we have got him for the money we seemed willing to spend on Guehi? Maybe, maybe not. -
What horrible news. Hopefully they've caught it early and they can treat/manage him successfully.
-
I hope you don't mind if I take it with a massive pinch of salt then? Nothing personal obviously
-
Would be interesting to know what specific information has led to that educated guess? Presumably if it's nothing concrete then nobody is getting in trouble if that information is out there...
-
I can't find the Tweet but someone shared a copy of the relevant part of the PL handbook - there isn't really any scope for an appeal, whichever side "wins"
-
That's right, however if the Premier League are going to have to change their rules on APTs then that has to be relayed to the other clubs and that will leak out pretty quickly. If it doesn't then we can assume either the result of the arbitration hasn't been decided yet or the rules are staying as they are.
-
For all the hearing was confidential, if there was going to have to be a change in the rules (i.e. if the PL lost some or part of the argument) they'd have to inform the member clubs and it's inevitable at least one of those clubs will leak it. If the PL "won" then I suppose they could still call a meeting to report that to the clubs but they presumably wouldn't have to as it'd just be business as usual?
-
I was reassured too. Well, assuming the quotes are accurate. If the goal really is to be "best in class" then fantastic. I'm happy to be patient while they make sure they've got all the right people in the right positions to achieve that. I'd back that strategy being more successful long-term than just hoying money at a quick-fix.
-
I remember discussing this with someone at the time but the way the survey was worded was poor. It's a massive oversimplification of the options on the table. If you asked me to choose from those three I'd say "Renovated SJP" but how much are you renovating it? 5k extra on the Gallowgate I'd say no thanks. Same with those saying "New stadium", I bet a fair chunk of that 19% would change their mind if that new stadium was miles outside the city centre
-
If we weren't wasting £650,000 per week on Matt Targett we could afford an even bigger stadium
-
Wasn't that £2.5b for the sale price then £2.5b (or so) in guaranteed investment?
