I think if the terms are reasonable, that's a good move for us.
-
What are we at the moment, £6.5m isn't it? So we'd be £13.5m plus the Noom deal (£7.5m) up on last season which is pretty decent.
-
I just don't think it's their "thing" really. They don't rely on clicks so they don't need to keep spouting rumour after rumour.
-
I'm going to trust the people that brought us Bruno, Botman, Isak and Trippier. They know our situation with FFP, they know what's around the corner as far as sponsorship etc goes and they know what Eddie wants from his squad.
-
That may be the case but I don't think any of them have any links to PIF other than NUFC?
-
Not a name I've seen mentioned here unless I missed it earlier. 15g/7a in 23 appearances this season.
-
I don't think it's a case of Gordon or Maddison, more that they think they can get Gordon for the price they want now and Maddison for the price they want in the summer. Obviously we'll find out either way before too long.
-
Yeah supposedly most (if not all) contracts have a "loyalty bonus" which is paid to the player if he gets transferred as long as he doesn't officially ask to leave.
-
That's true to an extent but if you sign someone like Gordon on a 5-year deal, let's say £40m fee, if he has two decent seasons and you can find a buyer for £25m then you're still making a FFP profit (not including wages obviously) The key with FFP is just to not sign complete duds that you can't give away a few years down the line. Even a couple of those examples (Nastasic & Sinclair) I don't think even made a loss from a FFP perspective although I haven't actually sat at worked it out exactly.
-
This is correct. The best way to think of it is that FFP is accountancy, not football. It's measuring amortisation (or depreciation of the value of an asset).
-
I'm not as against the signing as some on here. I haven't really watched all that much of him but I think Howe & Nickson deserve the benefit of the doubt. Let's see how he develops in our environment rather than Everton which has been a bit of a basket case for the last couple of years or so.

Garbage source that mind

Allan Saint-Maximin (now playing for Fenerbahce, on loan from Al-Ahli)

His decision making does seem better. Probably easier to pick out a teammate when they aren't just standing around waiting for him to do it all himself like under SB... -
Linked with Milan & Spurs, almost certainly just trying to get one/both of those to firm up a bidding war.
-
Looking at his numbers on fbref you can see why Eddie might fancy it - not dissimilar to both Miggy and Jack Harrison who we know we were interested in. Anthony Gordon (fbref)

In theory if there isn't actually any damage to the muscle, ligaments etc then its just a case of pain and/or swelling. If that's all gone then there's no reason why he should aggravate the ankle. Still reckon he'll be on the bench on the basis that he probably hasn't trained much.

We know how Ashworth works from various interviews etc at Brighton, every player has a replacement within the squad, within the U21/18s and potential targets from abroad. Exactly the same as the Botman/Burn move, we chased Botman to the point where it wasn't a practical deal then immediately moved on to Burn.

Chris Wood (now playing for Nottingham Forest)

Not quite nothing but accounting for his wages (£100k/week for about a year) it's not far off. Might even end up with a proper profit depending on wage contribution and the loan fee #maths -
He reminds me of my old boss. Could have just put 20% more effort in and doubled his T/O but he was just a lazy f**k who couldn't be bothered. Similar to Ashley (who bought NUFC without really putting that much thought into it) he inherited the business so his heart was never really in it.
-
In a later tweet he replies suggesting that it would be €40m in total which seems like a lot.
-
iirc the story broke either before he left Spain or while he was in the air.
-
Right. But if its all meant to be hush-hush then there are better ways than flying a famous footballer right into the middle of a football-mad city? When was the last time they managed to stealth someone in & out without the press/some random fan with a smartphone picking it up?
-
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that plane is absolutely northing to do with football. Either way, we'll know by 11am because there's no way they'll get someone "important" in & out of the airport and to the training ground/stadium without someone spotting them.

It was always about piracy for the PL. This argument about separation was ridiculous (its obvious KSA runs PIF whether on a technicality or not) and its no coincidence it all went away once the piracy issue was sorted. Either way the agreement was that the state wouldn't be involved in running NUFC and provided its just Yasir, Mandy etc making all the decisions then I think that holds.
