Isak staying doesn’t guarantee us finishing in the Champions League places either. What we should be looking at is replacing the goals that we are going to post by Isak leaving, and whilst that can’t be guaranteed I would feel confident that between Strand Larsen and Wissa that we should cover that.

I have always been against rewarding him for his shitty behaviour by giving him the move that he wants. However, I am at the point where him and Liverpool are welcome to each other, and I want a line drawn under it so we can move on. If Howe likes Strand Larsen and Wissa then sign the pair of them and let’s get our season started.

Look at the coefficient payments for the Champions League in 23/24, both ourselves and Man Utd came bottom of our groups, they received €60.7 million but we only received €34.4 million. Uefa want to base prize money not just on that season in Europe but how you have performed over five seasons, so the more established you are in European competitions the more money you will receive. They want teams like us and Villa qualifying to be a novelty, not a permanent disruption of what they see as the elite clubs.

If Isak stays we can offer him a buy out clause in his contract that has to be activated before 30th June 2026, which falls in this financial fair play year.

I watched the game and he wasn’t too bad in the first half, it was a good running battle between him and Diakite. He managed one attempt where he climbed above everyone around the penalty spot and had a good header on target, he got it down low but too close to the keeper. Second half Wolves went down to 10 early and we’re up against it, it looked like Bruce ball with everyone behind the ball and Strand Larsen 50 yards from his nearest team mate. He looked like a man contemplating his life choices between the red card until he went off.
