Bristol City beating Derby. Bobby Clark on the bench.

Yoane Wissa has returned to training with the Brentford squad and the striker could face Crystal Palace this weekend, head coach Keith Andrews says. The 28-year-old missed last weekend's Premier League opening-day defeat at Nottingham Forest as he had been training away from the squad after saying he wished to leave the club. A second bid from Newcastle United worth up to £40m for the DR Congo forward was rejected this week. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/articles/cj9wpn1l088o

A great alternative if Isak does stay, bring him off the bench around the 65 minute mark would make a huge difference compared to what we had last season.

There was a report by one of the journalists about a week or so ago that said we were in regular contact with Jackson’s representatives. His all round game seems excellent but he needs to spend time developing his finishing, but no reason he can’t do that at 24.
-
The problem we have is we don’t know if we are signing a striker as back up to Isak or to replace him, so the players we are being linked with are coming in for some unfair criticism because they are being compared to Isak head to head.
-
For comparison, this is Isak’s last 50 shots for us.
-
All of his efforts at goal last season. He looks right footed but is also comfortable shooting with his left.
-
He got an assist against us last season, he outmuscled Burn down our left hand side before getting the ball in, also hit the post twice and Dubs made a great point blank save to put one of his efforts on to the bar. His movement when not in possession is excellent.

Wissa and Isak. But we have Jackson on standby as a loan if Liverpool bid £130+ million.

I don’t think the club will be overly bothered about having no available strikers that the manager has faith in while the AFCON is going on, based on that we didn’t seem that bothered that we didn’t have one for Villa.
-
I’m not sure that would even be legal under freedom of movement. Also, would it mean that he doesn’t have to agree a new wage? Keeping him on the same as when he was at Burnley?

If you look at what transfermarkt has for the 5 most valuable forwards under the age of 23, we have tried to sign 4 of them this summer, with the other being Samu. Add in other forwards that have moved this window or January, so Chelsea signing Pedro and Delap, Liverpool Ekitike, Man Utd Sesko, Arsenal Gyokeres and Man City Marmoush. That is an unusual high number of forwards signed that we would have had a shot with any other year, so we will need to be creative, but short notice creative usually means a lack of due diligence, which I don’t think we will want to take at big money.

Maybe Brentford believe we haven’t played this one with a straight bat, in the same way that we would rather Isak go anywhere but Liverpool.

A few weeks back I went to watch Wisla Krakow vs Lodz, in the second division of Polish football. You couldn’t buy tickets online due to Polish laws around tickets for live events, but you could get them on the day as long as you took your passport with you, my ticket cost £11.21 and my sons was £6.52. I have watched a fair bit of football over the last few years from the Championship through to League Two, and the football here was seemed to be at a higher standard to that, the team tried to play fast counter attacking football with a high press and dominated the first half. Wisla Krakow ended up winning 5-0. The most surprising thing for me other than the standard of football, was that they used VAR for an offside decision, we don’t even have that in the Championship over here. The atmosphere was excellent but there didn’t appear to be any away fans there, just over 27,000 in total.

Spurs in for Wissa and Dom Solanke to us.
-
I was hoping that we already had a deal in place with Brentford and we were patiently waiting for them to bring someone in, not us parking it for weeks when we were nowhere near a deal.
-
If Brentford are not even going to come back with a counter offer then move on, we haven’t got the time to get sucked in to this game.

Latest from Sky Sports News' Keith Downie: "Newcastle talked last night about the conditions of a sale. There were two conditions. "One, the valuation of the player is £150m. "That is what Newcastle's valuation is. I still think they would probably do a deal for a little bit less than that. But I think Liverpool's £110m offer that landed a few weeks ago is way short. So if Liverpool were to really seriously want Isak, they would have to come to the table with a higher bid. "The second is that Newcastle need to find a replacement. They tried on Benjamin Sesko, they tried on Hugo Ekitike, failed on both of those. "They're actually even struggling right now, as we can see, to bring in a replacement for Callum Wilson, who left on a free transfer. We've been telling you for weeks now that they've been trying to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford. But he's seen as the Callum Wilson replacement rather than the Alexander Isak replacement. "So they can't even get the second striker in, if you like. "If they were able to land Wissa in the next few days - and I am expecting a bid in the next couple of days - and Liverpool came to the table offering £130m then Newcastle might have a decision to make. "However, it would leave them very light on striker reinforcements." Sky Sports saying Douglas Luiz will be on loan with an obligation based on appearances.

This is a good one discussing Jackson’s game.
