I reckon we'll be alright, Villa made it out of the group stage without their January signings. Their eight games weren't like our six. You can see that from who they played, right? Even you'll agree with that. Also we would've made it to the next round if that penalty hadn't been called. Saying we couldn't handle six games is too harsh; we were robbed of three points in Paris, so that's why we didn't qualify. That comment's not fair on Eddie and the players, in my opinion.

1 Looking at Villa's group stage fixtures i would hardly agree with this.. Much easier than what we got the year before to be fair.

That's totally right. They've got so much money, missing the Champions League for a couple of years won't hurt them. We'd feel it after just one year though. Mandy said we'll be number one in 5-10 years, and we're about to start our fourth season, with two CL qualifications and a Cup already. Let's just be patient and let them do their thing. We're in good hands. It's frustrating sometimes, sure, but that'll make the eventual success even sweeter..

I respectfully disagree with your assessment. While consecutive Champions League qualifications are undoubtedly significant, increased spending and risk-taking this season do not guarantee qualification. With eight teams competing for four or five spots, there's no certainty of achieving back-to-back qualifications, even with a strong squad. From a fan's perspective, I understand the appeal of taking risks. However, our risk-taking has already led to the sale of two players, Miniteh and Anderson. (Incidentally, you spent a considerable portion of last summer questioning the efforts of Wor Mandy and others i.e overspending) The reality of improving our financial position requires a long-term strategy. Reaching Arsenal's revenue levels won't happen in two or three seasons; it will take five years or more. A patient and measured approach is essential. I would rather sell Isak on our terms rather than sell him out of desperation (you said Brighton took us to the cleaners regarding the price of Miniteh) I respectfully disagree with the approach you've suggested; it doesn't seem sound or reasonable. It's understandable given that your job isn't at stake, but those running the club, and I, hold a different perspective. And about bold bit. The problem with that logic is, if we sell Isak after overspending, we won't be able to replace him with anyone good because we'll be just be selling him to meet the PSR (just like with Minteh and Anderson). If we sell Isak on our terms, without overspending first, we can get decent replacements and fill other spots. Get what I mean?

It was a risky move, and Monchi's style. Now those loan players are returning, and you'll have to sell players to meet the Financial Fair Play rules. That might weaken the squad. In PSR, it's all about the long game, not quick wins; steady growth, not rushing things. Unless you have revenue at least 75% of the sky six, gambles are a no no. I include loans in this too.
-
It's quite accurate that.
-
It's pretty clear why we can't use those loopholes, it's because of our income. We make about half of what the Sky 6 make, so those loopholes won't help us in the long run. Until we get good academy players to sell and revenue closer to the Sky 6, those loopholes are for short-term gain and could really hurt us later.

So Jack's leaving Man City's bench to be a rotational player in a World Cup year at Newcastle? He'll want to start, not just come off the bench, he is not getting ahead of any of our forwards or CMs so what would be appealing to him to come here? Can only see him pulling a strop here. Best to stay well clear.

Don't forget Tonali. I'm sure we'll see contract extensions for those three (maybe Botman too) by next summer.
-
Few clubs can match Newcastle for its success rate with player arrivals, and that comes from being calm and patient. Crucially, it means not panicking when targets go elsewhere.

Remember how we got burned buying from Man U almost 2 decades ago? So I came up with two rules: 1. Don't buy anyone over 23 from a cartel club. 2. Don't buy anyone who was a regular starter there and is now looking to move on. This is a huge no. We would like to close the gap on Liverpool, we won't do that by buying their deadwood.

Lewis Hall's a left back, not a CM, and hasn't played there much in top-level football. I reckon that rumour's bogus, the guy's not reliable should have been posted in the twitter nonsense thread, however it would be better to sell Targett and get Theo, though. That gives us Hall and Theo at LB, and Livramento and Trippier at RB. We should not move a player who got an England call up at LB to CM. TAA comes to mind. What a disaster that was.

We were all so bummed about not signing anyone last summer, this thread on deadline day was a total dumpster fire, but Eddie totally came through for us, winning a cup and getting us into the Champions League! This past season's been our best in, like, 50 years. We're in good hands, mate. We'll be alright. Relax.

Looks nailed on that.

Yeah, I get that the Glazers are way worse than Ashley, but you gotta understand our point of view too. The Glazers have gotten super rich, sure, but they have shown ambition, spending crazy money on players everyone thought were amazing. Like, I thought Antony was gonna be huge, same with Pogba and Maguire – the list goes on. Ashley, though? Zero ambition. Every time we were close to something big, he'd screw it up willingly at that. He slowly turned our loyal fans into bitter enemies, and that's no small feat. At least the Glazers showed and still show some ambition, trying to buy top players. We finished fifth and got Anita that summer. You'll be hard-pressed to find a Newcastle fan who totally agrees, but I get what you're saying.

Monaco quoting 70 million euros for him. Linked to PSG, Man City and Liverpool.
-
Mate you're the one throwing all these other players into the mix! Froggy just said Bruno F is a outstanding player (probably their best player) and we'll miss him if he leaves. What's KDB, Hazard, Wilson, and prime Bale got to do with what Froggy and others said about Bruno F?
-
Check out the games where he didn't score, even though he was playing. That'll boost your sample size to almost a third of the games. That's why we played him in the last games of the season, even though he was clearly injured. Isak scores, we tend to win. When he doesn't we most certainly dont win. It's a real issue we need to fix this transfer window.
-
we totally failed to win this past season without Isak, couldn't score for sh** Almost every game he was off his game, and we lost. Big problem.

Fair play. It was SAF logic when buying RVP though.

Sir Alex Ferguson says Robin van Persie has had "as big an impact as anyone" he can remember at Manchester United after helping them win the Premier League. The Dutchman, 29, scored a hat-trick in Monday's 3-0 win over Aston Villa that secured United's 20th league title. He has hit 24 league goals since moving from Arsenal for £24m last summer. United boss Ferguson said: "I remember Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger saying to me 'he's better than you think' when we concluded the deal. He was right." Earlier this season, Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini said his failure to buy Van Persie was the difference between the two teams in the title race. Some solutions are simple. Same as City buying Haaland.
-
Man u lost the title in 2012 on goal difference, SAF went and got the leagues top goal scorer and won the league at a Canter in 2013. Some solutions are simple. We struggle to win or score without Isak. We go buy a rw (a position we currently need) who has just scored 20 Premier league goals. Simple solution. Again. We struggle to win or score without Isak.

They won the treble mate, that was my point.

We've needed a right winger for at least five years, it's a top priority. Murphy probably won't repeat his performance this year, so we need a top-class right winger. A top center back is also a priority. The other positions you mentioned are only possible if we sell a player first. We're stacked at goalkeeper and central midfield. Arsenal scored 88 and 91 goals the last two seasons, so they didn't bother buying a striker. What happened this year? Man City scored tons of goals, but still got Haaland. Let's be like Man City, not Arsenal. We absolutely need a right winger. And remember, we struggled to score and win without Isak this season.
