They are both going to roll over for City. Its inevitable.
-
Yeah, 93% sounds about right, we're good, mate. One more win out of the next two and we're in. And don't forget how Eddie's team always delivers when the pressure's on? I can't remember us ever losing a must-win game at St. James' Park. We'll thrash Everton. Eddie's team has proven it time and time again.
-
Hey, remember those Arsenal, Liverpool, and Spurs away matches? We totally countered from a low block then, Longstaff was a beast! Saying we *never* played a low-block counter-attacking style that season is just false. I can think of at least ten games where we did, and the stats back me up. In games where we didn't have the ball, he was amazing, but against teams like Leeds, where we *did*, he was a real problem. That's why I said he'd be killer on a counter-attacking team. Look at Longstaff's good games for us. We usually didn't have the ball and we countered.
-
Check out that Newcastle team that came in 4th. He was huge for us when we countered from a low block. But he got benched when our style changed.
-
Yeah, he's not really cut out for possession football, is he? He'd be much better in a low block counter-attacking team. Places like Nottingham Forest, Everton, or Crystal Palace would be perfect for him.
-
I wouldn't trade our starting eleven, but I'd totally swap their bench for ours. Look at their midfield compared to ours. It's obvious they have a better squad. We might have a better starting eleven, but definitely not a better squad overall, and its definitely a squad game this.
-
This. We need a right winger, center back, center forward, and a midfielder, quality players, and we're good. We'll have bench options.
-
Why sell Barnes? The guy gets a goal or assist every other game, nine Premier League goals this season, and half the time he was on the bench! I don't get it. I'd keep Willock and Pope, personally.
-
Yeah, I'm with you. Villa HAVE to miss out, they're a really good team now, way better squad than us with tons of players to choose from. Getting into the Champions League again will just make them even stronger.
-
Arsenal splashed out sixty-odd million and a crazy two hundred grand a week for Havertz to play striker, right? They also got Jesus the summer before for forty-odd million. That's over a hundred million on strikers in two summers! So it's bogus to say they haven't bought a striker. They did, but whether they're any good is besides the point. The money was spent. Highly doubt they have room in that position for an elite signing their fans are clamouring for unless they offload one of Jesus or Kai.
-
Oh how i wish that was true. Barnes and Gordon are our LW choices, remember we're in Europe next season! They'll get plenty of playing time, maintaining quality. Grab a top RW to play with Murphy, and we're set on the wings. Loads of depth there. Yeah, get Ramsey, but don't ditch Barnes to do it.
-
This deal involves a player exchange with a direct competitor. We are trading a prolific goalscorer, arguably second only to Isak in finishing ability, for a player with a significant injury history and considerably less goal-scoring prowess than Barnes. Its a big no for me.
-
Well beyond 20 million. 😁
-
Remember when they got totally destroyed by City in the Champions League and then lost to Barca in the league? Then next season they won the league *and* the Champions League! Crazy how things change, huh?
-
Villa's wage bill is astronomical. It's unsustainable. Hence they will need a big sale every season to keep up, with Mitchell in charge dont think that will be our approach, better to pad out the squad with young talent without the high wages (Ndidi is on 75 k a week)
-
Huh? According to data, Trent has made four errors leading to a goal in his entire Premier league career. VVD has 6. Go figure.
-
I agree. Averages a goal and assist every 3 games at right back. Thats elite.
-
All the best young players, under 20 and worth over 30 million, and you're saying they aren't spending big? Adding the over 100 for Jude and 80 for Tchouaméni. Wow. They've won two Champions Leagues and domestic trophies in the last three seasons, and you think that's an odd approach for squad building? 🤔 I would say its an odd opinion you have rather than an odd approach to squad building
-
Not entirely true. How much did they pay for Bellingham and Tchouaméni? Just to name a few. They do spend big.
-
Saliba comes to mind.
-
We're in Europe next season, and the cups too, so he'll get tons of playing time here. Just like last season. Miley's definitely staying put.

It's crazy when people say "I can't see that happening" about billionaires and football clubs, right? These guys are billionaires for a reason; they see things we don't. Especially a fund like Clearlake. Nobody thought a club would be worth $100 million, let alone a billion, 50 years ago! Fenway bought Liverpool for $300 million – what's it worth now? Four or five billion in just 15 years! Maybe ten times that in the next 15. Don't be short-sighted; even Mike Ashley profited from Newcastle despite relegations. These guys are billionaires for a reason
-
You're missing the point, mate. Nobody said Man U's revenue will drop. I'm saying constantly missing the Champions League will hurt them because other clubs will catch up, making it tougher to grab one of the 4 or 5 CL spots, maybe even 8 or 9 teams competing. Their massive debts mean they'll need cash injections, and the owners might not be keen on that. It's totally wrong to say Spurs and Man U don't need European football. If they miss out, other teams will get richer and closer, forcing them to spend even more – they can't keep that up. Plus top players want to play CL how do you convince players with no CL.
-
They're billionaires, so obviously they've got better vision than me. I'm sure they know what they're doing. Will it help Chelsea? Maybe not. But I bet they'll make a ton of money off it.

So being a fund and all, the plan's to boost the team's worth, simples. New stadium, better facilities etc, a young hotshot team to rake in cash for years through player trading and sponsorship etc, then sell the club for a profit. Classic American investor model. The Glazers' primary motivation for acquiring Manchester United was likely financial gain. Their subsequent success in this endeavor is evident. copy and paste that to Clearlake
