Probably one for the Unpopular Opinions thread but if we can get our money back this summer I'd sell him! He plays back to goal all game and spends too much time near the centre circle. No good for our style of play. He is clearly an excellent footballer and will be great in the correct team and formation but that's not us right now and I cannot see us changing our whole formation and approach to accommodate him. Sell him to Bayern this summer for £70m to replace Kane or play alongside him. Then use the cash to buy a proper number 9 who fits our team. Lovely lad and great player but wrong team wrong time.

Yes football is so expensive these days. My ST is now £940 plus I've also paid £240 in CL tickets, £80 so far for LC cup, £30 so far for FA cup. And that's just homes games!

You clearly need to go and spend £115m on a new defender. Squad is too small and lacking quality after £2bn net spend! Incidentally, when is the final ruling to be made on those 115 charges. It must be close to being time barred and then thrown out like those UEFA charges were.

My view is unchanged, rather have Longstaff plus £30m to spend elsewhere and much lower wages, than Ramsey. Hope he proves me wrong in the next 12 months but thats my view at present.

As I said above in the thread they can't score away from home, joint lowest with Wolves. A tight defence will only get you so far, hence all their draws. Lack of goal threat will catch up eventually. But they look solid and well organised, especially at home.

I think they've only won once in the last 6-7 games. Wonder who they beat....

If they can keep up their home form they'll be around mid table. They are the joint lowest away scorers with Wolves on four (we have 10 and been shit away) so they really struggle to score away.

Yes that's my view as well. Just looked at the full table for the first time this season and saw that they've only scored four goals away all season, we have seven and are shit away. Only bottom Wolves have scored less than them with three.

I disagree. Football is about winning competitions and we'll never win the PL, probably ever. The celebrations at Wembley in March were fantastic and never to be forgotten. I dont remember the same at SJP when we lost to Everton to finish 5th but 'won' the CL race. You can't compare the two.

I see two main differences between us and Villa. Firstly, their manager has years of experience of juggling league campaigns with European football. And often winning the competition. Secondly, their ethos seems to be to take more risks in the transfer market. Short term loan signings, high turnover of first team players, wheeling and dealing DOF, etc.

I dont follow Villa closely but what formation do you use and has Emery changed this over the last few seasons? As you probably know Howe is wedded to 433 and we very rarely deviate from this.

Even if we had a fully staffed recruitment department like Brighton (and presumably Brentford, Bournemouth and even the fucking mackems last summer) do you genuinely believe Howe would have signed seemingly obscure and unheard of players from outside PL? Or even relatively known non PL players? I dont think so, his first choices always seem to be PL players. Only when they are not landed do we go to non PL. If the rumours are true in summer 2024 Howe told Mitchell it was Guehi or nobody for CB. Even though we were apparently offered Thiaw that summer for less than we just paid this summer.
