Maybe and I understand your response 😁. I just don't think he's as good as some people on here make out. He was available last summer for £100m and probably a lot less if anyone actually put a decent bid in, but no club did. We need to sell one top player to progress. For me it's Bruno before Isak or Gordon or Botman if he comes back pre injury form. He's the oldest and easiest to replace, we've already got Tonali.
-
I know I'm in a minority on here but I would have preferred to sell Bruno for anything north of £70m and kept Anderson.
-
And we only got £20m for him in real terms. That's with being generous with a £5m valuation of the Greek guy.
-
We did for years under Ashley. He loaned us well over £100m for more than a decade. That loan was cleared when the takeover completed.
-
Is that centre parcs Penrith?!
-
In that case he'll not be going out on loan! Can't see Wilson playing more than 10 games this season. Hope I'm wrong though.
-
About this time last year we beat PSG. The support was fucking immense, even during the warm up 30 minutes before ko. It was deafening during the first half especially.
-
Bloke next to me at the match said that the guy who owns that little piece of land outside the east stand is wanting £5m-£8m to sell it to the club. That's the rumours anyway. Noticed the club have put a sign up about it, naming the company who owns the land and the companies house registration number.
-
Agreed. And if he doesn't sign the new contract before the end of the year we'll have to sell him in January. Thats assuming we can get a higher fee in January compared to next summer.
-
Did they not pay £305m to acquire the shares of the company, which includes all it's assets and liabilities? One of those liabilities was a £140m loan to MA which they could either choose to repay or keep on the BS, subject to any conditions in the sale and purchase agreement regarding repayment of the loan due to change in ownership. Same way MA had 90 days to repay the £55m securitisation loan on acquisition from Hall and Shepherd. Anyway it's old news now and not relevant going forward 😀
-
£1.7bn? I'm not completely disagreeing as I haven't seen the detailed figures but off the top of my head, £305m purchase price, about £140m to clear the loan to MA, capital invested via new equity must be about £400m or so? Maybe it's more than £400m but to say it's £1,700m all in is a bit of a stretch. As I said I've not seen the accounts for a while so maybe it is more than I thought.
-
Wouldn't mind replacing him with anyone that's available for more than 10 games a season! That would be an improvement.
-
Isak at the time, maybe? But looks great value 24 months on. Tonali, most expensive ever Italian? Tino? Hall? He may be referring to those.

Speak for yourself mate 😀 I'm in my 50s had a ST over 30 years, seen us lose numerous games finals at Wembley, seen us finish runners up in PL twice, play in the CL three times (four if include getting knocked out in the qualifiers), I'm 100% OK with us doing a 2008 Man City. Be no complaints from me if we do!

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/aston-villa-premier-league-transfer-33593600 The same story is being reported across a few papers this morning. Villa were also very close to a 10 points PSR, hence the Luiz sale on 30th June.
-
Yes, except for superstar one in a generation talented CBs!
-
I completely get that. But it's still correct that the summer 2024 transfer activity shows a net spend of around zero, albeit spread across two PSR periods. The key point is we seem to have at least £65m to spend. But for whatever reason(s) have chosen not to spend it. That not how successful progressive clubs operate. Hopefully it's an exception and not a sign of things to come.
-
No need to be like that mate....all I did was ask you to show me your workings 😀 BTW, I'm a FCA been qualified about 25 years so I do understand accounting periods, balance sheet dates, PSR, etc 😉
-
So you are disputing that as things stand today, this summer's transfer dealing is not showing position of around zero net spend? So what's your figure then. It's been about £65m in and out.
-
Winter 2024 window, net (and gross) spend of zero. Summer 2024 window, net spend of around zero. No news on the training ground or the stadium. Been a while since any new meaningful sponsorship deals announced. As someone once said, it's not like it is in the brochure. (Hopefully I've posted that 24 hours too early!).
-
Well that's the transfer kitty fucked. Probably another £10m add on now been triggered to Southampton!
-
He'll sign for Liverpool this time next week for £55m + £5m add ons.
-
In which window do we begin to sign 18 year olds from South America for £10m each.
-
That was ep1 of 2. Episode 2 is available now on I Player.

Some guy. Another clean sheet. Really missed him.
