All that really matters is the relationship Isak has with Howe, and to a certain extent the squad. If those bridges aren’t totally destroyed then there’s a chance he plays for us again. I think us fans will give him another chance if Howe asks us to. He’s lost any chance of legend status or warmth from the fans, but I don’t really think he was that adored anyway in comparison to Bruno or Tonali.

It’ll never be forgotten, but I’m sure Howe will tell the fans to back him and then we will. The reaction when he doesn’t quite close down aggressively as we want, or if he misses a few sitters, will be interesting… Dubravka got a lot of support after he left us and then returned. So there is still a little hope.

I really hope that list of strikers is the “Wilson replacement” list, otherwise what a dull and depressing list that is.

“Proposal out of market value…” This is one of the biggest issues now for us. Clubs will take the piss on valuations now as they know we are desperate and have cash.

No. I think something we’re all unaware of happened to trigger this reaction. The timing doesn’t really make sense. If Isak was desperate to leave, he pushes this earlier in the window to include Arsenal and Liverpool (pre-HE). I suspect contract negotiations didn’t go well… but that is just guess work.

One of my most celebrated goals was his 90th minute winner against Chelsea!

So it should be. Players can go to clubs like Brighton if that’s their motivation.

Eddie is the only way this plays out well for us. If somehow Isak stays, I fully trust Eddie to get the best out of him still. While Isak can get fucked, if Eddie told us we had to get behind again, then I totally would. Priviledge to have such a brilliant manager. The more I think about losing Isak, the more ok it will be: - Most good strikers will get 15+ goals per season with our quality midfielders and wingers - We could have a striker that can play more than 70 minutes per match - We could have a striker who we trust to be able to play 2 matches per week without getting injured - The money can be used to get two decent striker options We do need to invest well, but we can definitely still exit this summer window with a better team even if Isak leaves.

Nice win for Gateshead. Investment in the pitch and facilities. The women needed to move as required a stadium with a grass pitch to get into WSL.

I’d rather we sell now and reinvest well. Definitely better than keeping him unhappy and end up finishing 8th anyway. But I do worry on our ability to invest well. The amount of signings we’ve missed out on this summer. It might be better to wait until next summer just so we can get our house in order with a new CEO and Director of football.

The comment in the article raises a good point. If he’s pushing for a Liverpool move, then why now? Surely Isak would have been pushing for a move earlier in the window before Liverpool splurged so much. Many twist and turns ahead on this one I think. I’d rather he leaves this summer, than having a half arsed player who leaves next summer anyway.

We could afford to pay Isak £300k p/w. The problem is our other key players who want some parity with our top earner. Plus new signings wanting top end ranges. If we give Isak £300k, then can we afford to also move Tonali, Bruno and others to £200k to £250k? Probably not and then that becomes a big problem.
