  1. Try reading the comments on the BBC linked to the article. Everyone seems to find the statement extremely funny. I think it just makes us look delusional and stupid.
  2. Might as well post it in here as it’s Eddie”s problem to solve. Just as against Liverpool in August and Arsenal in September, Newcastle conceded a stoppage-time sucker punch against a member of the established order at home. No other side have thrown away more points - 11 - from winning positions in the Premier League this season than Eddie Howe's team. Football is never so simple, of course, but Newcastle would be a lot higher than 13th place in the table had they managed to get over the line after taking the lead against Spurs - let alone against Brentford, West Ham and Arsenal. Remarkably, Newcastle would be top if they had they seen out those four games - instead they sit 11 points behind leaders Arsenal, who they gave up three points to. So we are officially champions of the bottle jobs, at least we might win something this season.
  3. Unfortunately in this era of set pieces, corners, long throws, set piece coaches and increasingly big physical teams the days when a goalkeeper the size of Ramsdale could be a success are probably gone. What is the average height of a goalkeeper now? Football for a while now has been going the way of Rugby and Tennis among other sports you have to be big to play in a lot of positions.
  4. Dewsbury Hall making Thiaw and Livremento look like amateurs
  5. We are a much better team when Miley plays which makes you wonder why he doesn't start more often
  6. Won't Bruno start in the 6 role the furthest back? Don't think Howe trusts Miley to do it.
  7. Sunderland are ready to battle Newcastle for Lazio's French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, 26. (Teamtalk) Newcastle's England full-back Tino Livramento, 23, is wanted by Manchester City, who could face competition to sign him from Manchester United and Arsenal. (Caught Offside, external)

    Nick Pope

We need to give Ramsdale a run and find out if he is good enough to replace Pope, if he isn't then buy Trafford and see if he's good enough.
  9. We as a club have been poor away from home for years, decades in fact. Mentally weak players who can only perform at home and one of the least proactive coaches in the game. Honestly picking Gordon at CF is just brain dead and stupid. Miley once again on the bench and then playing at RB, you couldn't make this shit up. Deciding that Elanga was the upgrade at RW that we needed and paying 55m for him, whoever made that decision should be fired. This all in on physical over technical players is going to end in a whimper this season. I'm looking forward to the reset that is coming.
  10. The complete lack of game time for Miley surely means he’ll want out at some point. Would be a shame.
  11. Hope we don’t put Burn up against Greenwood as he’s probably the best RW out there.
  12. Hate watching us play City, all our technical limitations on show, unable to keep the ball, big gap between the midfield and defence, all we have to offer is effort.
  13. In the BBC transfer gossip. Manchester United are eyeing Elliot Anderson, 23, as a possible replacement for Brazil international Casemiro, 33, but face competition from Liverpool and Newcastle for the £100m-rated England and Nottingham Forest midfielder. (Times - subscription required, external) Manchester City could offer Trafford to Newcastle in a player-plus-cash deal to secure the services of 23-year-old England full-back Tino Livramento.
  14. True but he hasn't had a shot on goal yet, has never been offside which can be a good thing but in his case isn't, and we aren't using his strengths. To get the best out of him we will have to change the way we have played for the last 4 years.
  15. Unless I'm very much mistaken Eddie Howe is the first team coach at NUFC he's never been the manager. Lots of clubs have this distinction although at Newcastle it's never been clear what falls under Eddie's remit or not. Anyhow the biggest concern imo is the rotten disjointed football we play most of the time based on size, athleticism and physicality, over technical ability and possession. The things we were good at have disappeared and haven't as yet been replaced with an effective alternative. Maybe the players we have are not capable in playing any other way but surely most of them are better than what we have been witnessing so far this season. The team needs change, no more Pope hoofing the ball into the stands, no more Burn at LB, Miley needs to play in midfield as he is at least comfortable in possession and doesn't consistently give the ball away, Barnes over Gordon and currently Murphy over Elanga. Most importantly find a way to integrate our 69million unicorn into an effective threat something that so far no one at the club seems to have a clue how to do.
  16. I don't think Eddie is planning on pivoting, he seems to think that the profile of players we've been recruiting will be successful. I have my doubts.
  17. I think he'll do an Anderson transformation but not for us. He might be a local lad and living the dream at his club but if he continues to be left on the bench he will be better off looking to get away. He'd really benefit being in a team that values the ball and keeps possession.
  18. He's more of a 10 than a 9 and doesn't have the instincts of a 9. Even as a 10 he's a unicorn. Still as NUFC.com pointed out we don't have to worry about him being offside.
