Howe did mention Ramsdale’s distribution in the presser. Can see it’s in his thought process but would be shocked if he dropped Pope. He tends to stay loyal to a player until they either get injured, suspended or just so out of form it’s undeniable. Their players haven’t been happy with the way he’s been training (if you’re to believe those reports) - but that falls in line with how he was acting before he left here, even that small amount of training he did was half arsed at best according to club staff. Happens in normal life all the time, you get some guy in some job he hates and he just walks, or “quiet quits”.. without any consideration for what happens next. Motivation completely gone and it’ll take rock bottom to rediscover it again. Except on 300k a week he may never rediscover it.

This thread has turned into a shit show and I apologise for my part in it. All I want is Howe to find that consistency that he himself deserves for his efforts. Trying to explain that in 10 different ways has opened up all sorts of cans of worms and bullshit arguments. I do wish we controlled games a bit more but maybe that will come in another transfer window or two. Not expecting us to be challenging for the league, which I’ve said multiple times but the way we’re going it will have to be a conversation at some point but it will never be a reality if we keep going off the boil. I do think he has the capacity to improve so for that reason he’s the right man for the job. In terms of his personality and the way he carries himself I wouldn’t swap him for anyone.

Martin O’Neill is well past it. Wouldn’t be surprised if Roy Keane is given a chance given his connections to the club. Always got the feeling he had unfinished business in management. He did do a very good job with the mackems for a bit, not so much afterwards. Whether it’s worth his while financially over what he earns now as a pundit is another thing.

Not sure when in his career but his wiki says he can also play defensive midfield. I’d love to see what that power, pace and distribution would let Sandro and Bruno achieve either side of him. Schär would be a downgrade at the back though, on what we’ve seen so far this season.

I watched a good bit of his interview recently and the bit with the sound bite, he re-affirms that he wouldn’t manage another club in England and he says hypothetically it’s possible “so yeah” - but then goes on to say that he doesn’t miss coaching at all and he’s getting everything he needs from his current role while still being connected to the game in the same way. He also discusses Slot and is asked about the transfers this summer and his line is basically “of course it’s not firing yet as it takes time” which I think will ease the pressure on Slot in some ways.. obviously not if they keep losing, that interview was filmed before they played Man Utd.

3-0 really flatters Spurs, they weren’t great at all. Everton unlucky with that VAR call but were poor for long spells. Spurs keeper looks decent though.

I wouldn’t say that’s 100% true, we do have Bruno and Sandro in the team. How many of our rivals wouldn’t take either?

To me, and maybe some of you will agree, the team is screaming out for a full on holding/defensive midfielder but it’s something the manager doesn’t seem interested in.

I’m in no way insinuating that we should have been challenging for the league this season, am just saying when we have a squad that’s capable of that, we cannot afford to just keep having these blips, but it’s not like we have a shit squad now, we don’t. With some adjustments I think the players we have should be well able to control games more than we do. That’s down to the manager and the sooner we can do that, when we do start adding that extra quality in key positions, they’ll hit the ground running more so than a whole team having to adapt to a new way of playing. I don’t know why this opinion is so divisive tbh

No the issue is that we will never challenge at the top of the league if we continue having that inconsistency year after year.
