Why is he untouchable? Winning something should never be an everlasting free pass. If Man City had that blind loyalty, Mancini would still be there and they’d not have won even a fraction as much.

I’m not saying he should be fired, but what he’s doing isn’t working and he’s never shown a willingness to change the style of play even though teams are now well onto the things that used to work for us. If Ross Wilson has any vision and/or clout, he’ll be trying to persuade Howe to bring in the type of players that we know are missing from our squad and get a better balance. We know we need a proper no.6. Bruno and Tonali are more than good enough to play either side of that in a midfield. We control the middle of the park and we involve the wide players in much better positions. But then that does ask the question of the profile of players we’ve signed, Ramsey for example, what’s he supposed to be here? Elanga just looks off the pace and low on confidence. Osula is not good enough. We also have to look at players who just aren’t doing it for us here. Gordon has been playing like he wants out. Barnes never gets a run in the side, again.. 40m.. what’s the plan for him here?

With the players we have NOW, we should be doing better than that. I don’t see where the improvement is coming from this time. Maybe Wissa will transform the attack if he ever gets fit, but at whose expense will his place in the side be?

Howe has also been able to sign players that those other managers could only dream of. I’m not in any way trying to suggest he’s on that level. It’s just our form is.

Yes I agree we will end up improving but we’re never going to challenge in the league with that these spells just being “oh that’s just what he does”

But the form is the same?

We’ve gone backwards under him since tail end of last season. The rot has continued. Look at our fixtures this season. Villa (a) Toothless and playing against 10 men against a very out of form team for 30 mins. Liverpool (h) Raised our game probably due to the crowd being so hostile and the players trying to prove a point, dumb sending off. Should have had a point, threw it away. Leeds (a) Toothless again, no striker the excuse but again against a poor side. Wolves (h) Poor performance but Wolt goal was enough against a very poor side. Bournemouth (a) Poor again against a mid table team. Arsenal (h) They played us off the park and although we scored first, we couldn’t hang on for even a point. Forest (h) Ange. Brighton (a) Awful again. Deserved nothing. Our form overall is not what you’d expect from a team who qualified for the Champions League and who spent heavily. If this was Steve Bruce or Steve McClaren the reaction would be very different. Yes Howe has credit in the bank, but how many seasons are we going to just accept very poor runs of form like what we’re on now? This game isn’t just a one off.. we’ve only beaten teams in the relegation spots. I just wonder if the players are just fatigued by the effort put in over last few seasons and nobody who’s come in has seemed good enough to come in and give us a boost. We just look shot and devoid of ideas. Answers on a postcard.

It doesn’t work like that. Bids on what? There needs to be at minimum high level architectural drawings/plans before any company can be invited to tender. As far as I know they haven’t carried out any surveys and a report would also need to be made on impact to wildlife, although that may have already been carried out as part of that feasibility report. Some members on here might have more info on that. There’s so many external factors in deciding to move that need to be ironed out before they can make a decision. Once things are actually in motion nothing will be kept quiet as too many individuals/entities involved.

Will Skippy Steve Bruce be gone before teatime?

If we can deal with Welbeck and Minteh we should be able to get something from this.

They’re not as good as they have been in previous seasons, but Minteh running at Burn is terrifying. Howe has to get the lineup spot on, but he’ll likely just go with the same 11 that started last time out (except maybe Murphy in for Elanga).. as that’s what he does. Be very surprised if he throws Ramsey in from the start.

As much as Howe has heaped praise, I don’t think we’d be in for him even if the fee was reasonable. Maybe if they got relegated he might have some clause.. he’s to sort the Joelinton problem first.
