  1. We had about 15/20 mins after scoring where we were poor and scrappy, once the 2nd goal went in we settled much better and they didn’t really have much of a sniff until we’d taken foot off the gas. Wolt had best game in a while with link up play, Thiaw was a rock alongside Burn who did great, Elanga much improved and Ramsdale didn’t have a whole bunch to do but some tasty passes right through the middle, started off a few attacks.
  2. Team selection spot on in fairness, we look better without Tonali in, surprisingly. Miley has been very progressive with the ball. They’ve been all over the shop and will be chasing 2nd half. There’s more goals to be had here
  3. City been all over the shop in the second half.
  4. Interested to see how Elanga gets on from the start. Thiaw and Burn is a concern in terms of distribution though.

Perch would come on to help us see out wins. Far more effective than Anita ever was for us

    Rafa Benítez

Is that all just an ultra thing? Always seems like a few ringleaders running the show. Would love to see noise like that at British clubs but not a fan of that whole gang mentality.

The spit of Don Cheadle. I was just never sure why we signed him or what we thought we were getting with him. Tidy footballer but just never physical enough for this league.

    St James' Park

Just be interested to see who’s actually taking the lead on this. Hopkinson isn’t making those calls. It may even be over YAR’s head in terms of making a financial commitment like that. As ugly as it is, what we really need is the prince to take an interest as some sort of vanity project linked to their 2030 thing. You’re probably talking about a 3/4 year build so if it’s to be part of that it would need to be happening very soon.

It’s less financially viable to increase capacity and redevelop SJP though. Unless it was demolished, pitch turned 90 degrees and they went with Aviva Stadium type solution to get around the light issue with Leazes Terrace.
  10. I wouldn’t even wish him on Sunderland, Liverpool maybe but you know what I mean. That cancer should never be allowed back in football.

    Sven Botman

He’s had a serious injury but still has the age to get back to the level he used to be at. IIRC.. VVD took a while after that Pickford injury to get back to his best levels which were last season, think maybe age and also the team playing shit is exposing him now, it’s the same for Botman. Very few in our side have looked ok in the last number of away games. So while as an individual he’s got some way to go, the team is exposing every frailty too.

    Yoane Wissa

It’s fully on Wissa what he chooses to do. The club cannot block an international call up, it would be a shit storm with FIFA and the Confederation of African Football. If he does get a call up and chooses to go and then has some sort of setback while away, that’ll fully be on him in terms of how his career goes here. Putting the strike shit aside which I don’t think sits well with any of us, he does generally seem a good egg in terms of how he gets on with the squad so I’d be hopeful he makes the best decision for the club.
  13. We’re still ok in the CL, bad performance but the position is still leaving options to progress. Far more concerned about the league. Everton actually looked solid this week against Man Utd, even with 10.

Fitness and form will likely take a while to build up once he’s in the squad. Going to be heaps of pressure on him when he’s back though.
  15. First 20 mins we were ok but the signs were there before end of half. Then whatever was said at half time went out the window. Total shame as they were there for the taking.
