Great city, where abouts you staying?  We stayed a bit out in Charlottenburg but the U Bahn is ace so really easy to get everywhere. A bit grim but id say the Holocaust Memorial is a must. Its quite striking. The Wall museum at Leipziger Platz is a must too imo.

We did a free walking tour which was canny. Everyone tips the guide at the end, though. East Side Gallery absolutely go and see. Definitely get a kebab! Sausage and curry is bleak. Georgbraeu brauhaus is a lovely place to sit outside next to the river on a warm day necking steins and eating meat, potato, gravy and sauerkraut. I'll see if I can remember any more. We were there for 3 nights.

Cheers!

Staying near to Mitte. Dead close to a U Bahn stop like.

Sorry, I didnt mean The Wall Museum, we didnt go there. It was the Topography of Terror.

Will second this and add that the Tränenpalast is good too if you’re that way inclined. It’s in Mitte too. Likewise the Dokumentationszentrum Berliner Mauer. Also it’s worth booking to go into the Reichstag dome, it’s free as well…I think. Berlin is class for museums like, guess it’d be hard not to be with that much recent history. One of my favourite places I’ve been. Would love to go back in summer and just doss about in the parks.

Zur Gerichtslaube is good for German food and there’s a brauhaus next door as well. Possibly the one Branko mentioned. Fair few beer halls around Alexanderplatz.

Also, loads of stuff closes in Germany on a Sunday.

Trips I'd previously be one.

Croatia: Bol and sebenik: Good but not as good as previous year in split and Zadar.

Cork: perfect 2 night break, amazing food and drink.

Budapest: brilliant city one of the best you can do if you like your eastern history etc but you can easily be ripped off on the tourist traps.s

Hamburg: great city of many contrasts, would like to visit again in the summer.  German beer while good has lost its advantage with the German impurities law.  The reperbahn was quite dead as it was at Xmas.  Miniature wunderland is the best museum they'll ever be, spent like 3 hours there. Also can't stand their cash society.

Copenhagen: best city I've to Europe despite the higher prices.  Brilliant architecture, bike culture, great food, lovely people, the Freeland of Christinia is something else.  Quite a bit was shut would like to visit again in the summer.. brilliant city.

Barcelona and Madrid:. Had my phone pickpocketed obviously there after telling me friend there who I was with to check their pockets etc.  Still a great city and the Gracia part is amazing for small bars and restaurants.  Madrid is just brilliant except for cycling which is scary, retiro is the best park in the world.  The transport in Spain absolutely smashes the UK, 23 euros.in 2:45 from BCN to Madrid and the new operators are going across Spain in next few months.

What are questioning? Both legs?  Speak up....

 Mainly just yanking your chain mate now you're back. I probably couldnt call any parts of the Croatia I saw. Bol is canny quiet tbf but absolutely beautiful. Was a huge fan of Sibenik as well, proper identity town I thought. Split was too busy but old Split was unreal. Zadar was lush too. Such an amazing country.

Anyone done the camper van experience in Iceland? Or have any Iceland advice in general. Being tempted by the dirt cheap flights (knowing what I’ll be spending on the other end  )

Aye I did. Don't get the smallest camper (renault kangoo) if you're taller than 4'3". I banged my head about 300 times and I'm short. I used a company called kuku campers.

Learn how to drive a stickshift before going and rent one of them. There is legit 1 road around the entire country, so if you can make it out of Reykjavik you'll be fine.

We drove to the very east and then turned around and went back. It was class. Nowhere else I've been where the landscape just changes so drastically while you drive.

Just came to ask for Berlin recommendations, but seen it's helpfully already been covered, also off in April for a few nights!

Been before about 7-8 years back, so done most the main touristy stuff, so any other slightly more niche recommendations welcome! Specific food/drinks places too.

The last 16 months we've done New York twice, Berlin, Naples, Milan, and beautiful Norfolk. And feck it, we ain't ganna stop just yet. Mind, problem flying back from JFK recently when wifey discovered on her manage my booking app that we'd been cancelled off our flight and hadn't been offered another. We did get home, eventually, but it was a real chew on and it spoiled our last day and a half. All down to overbooking seats and ineptness from two airlines.
