someone give me the gist of what to do to stop some barsteward connecting through my wireless router to t'internet

 

what do I have to setup on the router and the laptop wireless adapter?

You can do it with WEP keys, but I've never bothered with that.

 

Somewhere on your adaptor, you should have a MAC address. On your router, you should be able to configure it to only be visible to certain MAC addresses (should be under 'Setup MAC Client List', something like that). Just put yours in, and whoever else you want on it, and that should be fine.
