Personally I would say your latter option is only prerable if the expenditure on which the indirect tax is levied is genuinely optional.  Unfortunately a lot of indirect tax is paid on essential expenditure, which taxes the less well off indiscriminately, and if the EU has its way in the future that position will be even worse

I wouldn't mind paying income tax if we could get interest free loans from the Govt, from the money we pay as tax. I think the role of the banks in this triangle has been to the gross detriment of Westen society, remember the psbr and the amount the Govt has to borrow from the same banks to keep the policy train moving.

Govts tend to spend money faster than they get it, so there's nothing left to lend.  The money banks make from joe public and small businesses in particular is scandalous imo

People forget that the money made in a country ALL OF ITis made from the ingenuity, skills and labour of people and banks are just creaming it off continually. This moneyis not theirs, they had nothing to do with making it (apart from charging interest at various stages).

It's taken years for people to cotton on that the clearing system is just a money making scam for the banks.  "Insurance protection" for loans and penalty fees are another scam.  They rely on ignorance and apathy to get away with it, lucky for them there's plenty of that

Same as currency exchanges - they make their profit on the buy/sell spread - banks do the same in clearing but  use time as the spread...............

it's a disgrace, my dad gets taxed 40% of his wages. 40 fucking %.  thats a mans wages.  and it all goes to fucking foreigners and charvers.
