The Mail today are reporting that Newcastle’s move for Swiss International midfielder, Gokhan Inler, is getting closer to completion.

They had reported early yesterday that Dennis Wise had visited Switzerland to talk about a deal for the impressive Swiss International Gokhan Inler.

Today the Mail is adding to that, by saying the Dennis Wise has indeed had talks with Inler’s agent, Dino Lamberti, and that Newcastle are getting close to signing the midfielder for around £4M.

Middlesbrough are also said to be interested in the Swiss Euro 2008 star, but the Mail is  reporting that Newcastle are in the driver’s seat.

There were multiple reports in the Swiss newspapers yesterday that we reported on, and the fee in those reports was said to be around 10M euros - which is around £7.9M. That amount was said to be in the release clause of his contract.

That did seem a lot of money for the 24 year-old, but £4M also seems, if anything, too little, but it would be a great deal for Newcastle if they could get him for that amount.

His club is Udinese Calcio in the Spanish league, and he’s been there since last summer, and played 32 times for them last season scoring 3 goals. Inler was at FC Zurich before joining Udinese.

We stress that we cannot confirm this news to be true, but we hope it is true, and that we can indeed get the 6 ft Swiss midfielder, who is from Turkish descent, for around £4m.

That would be another excellent deal for the club, to go with our terrific recruitment of Jonas Gutierrez yesterday.

The way we did the Jonas deal so quietly makes me think most of these paper stories are rubbish and we're just doing our own thing.

Possibly but there have been a lot reports, which seem more realistic than the usual bullshit, about Inler especially with Wise being mentioned more.

How the fuck does the likes of nufcblog come up on Newsnow anyway, and the likes of us doesn't? Frequency of articles or what?

Probably been asked before like...

All our stuff comes up on News-Now, it just get lost amongst the reams of 'Have we signed Pablo Aimar?' bollocks.

That from Verlaine's best mate again?

And where does it end up? On this very site, as its own thread. Stolen from a site derided by this one. Proves the initial point I made, tbh. Newcastle-Online is no better, or worse, than NUFC Blog.
