just got my hard drive back off my old lap-top and need a bit help. how do i identify if it is a 2.5 or 3.5 and what is the cheapest way to link it up to my present lap-top via USB?

Buy a caddy for it, usually pretty cheap. If its a laptop hard drive it'l be 2.5".

I find the easiest way to tell is... if its a 2.5 hdd, it'll be 2.5inches! if its a 3.5, it'll be 3.5 inches!

it's 3inches by 4 1/2 inches.

Its either

3.5" on the narrowest side

or 2.5" are you measuring right?

Then it's a 2.5" drive.

 

If you want to be absolutely sure, you'll have to open the case and measure the actual platters. Of course, it'll never work again, but it will look dead cool.
