We must be averaging like two goals a game. That's cos of the quality that is in the side. I mean look at that strike from Martins, bloody hell. Fucking superb strike. Putting the ball in the net isn't really the problem tbh. During Kinnear's time (and i'm not saying our scoring exploits are necassarily down to him), the only time i've seen us struggle to carve out chances was the Mackem match. Every other one we've had plenty of chances, such is the quality in the team.

It's not always the defences fault we concede so much either.

Our midfield is crap, that's where ALL of our problems stem from. If you can't keep the ball you're inviting far too much pressure onto your back four and you're going to concede no matter who you've got there.

Not saying our back four is brilliant btw.

On paper our midfield isn't bad, but you're spot on about ball retention. Butt, Duff, Martins and Enrique give the ball away so many times in general it's disgusting

I don't mind players giving the ball away when it's a difficult pass or they're trying to make something happen (except when it's Nicky Butt just dinking stuff over the top of the opposition centre halves, seriously has anybody seen that pass work?) but it's when players simply can't find someone over a 10-yard space with not much pressure on them that's unforgivable. Especially when it happens, happens again and keeps on happening.

Neither with Owen or Viduka. Smith and Shola are another thing though...

Getting decent service has been the main problem for years and it's all down the midfield being poor and unable to create openings for the strikers. That's my opinion and I guess you don't disagree :snod:

If it is spin you want.......

We have won the same amount of home games as Chelsea

We have scored the same amount of goals at home as Liverpool & have scored more at home than high flying Villa

We have let less goals in at home than Arsenal

Man Utd have scored 1 more goal than us on there travels.

Big spenders Man City & Spurs have let more goals in than us on the travels

Our GK is a Irish & Newcastle legend. The back up: Is one of the best 2nd keepers in the league. A  local giant lad who has just had a great spell out on loan in the lower leagues. We also have a Dutch, Swedish & England youth internationals on the books.

Our back best back 4 is made up of: A Senegal international who was captain of Marseille & was many peoples player of the year last season. We have the current England U21 captain at centre back, a product of our youth Academy. An Argentinian international who's is coming into his prime age wise for a player & has played at some of the worlds greatest clubs: Boca, Milan & Atlético Madrid. A tall Spanish U21 international left back who cost the club £6 million pound. The back up is: A Brazilian international who captained Lyon to many a title. A French U21 international who can cover LB & but prefers CB. Canadian U20 captain who came through the ranks. A 18 year old Hungarian who is playing for his country U21's.

Midfield: A England international & X-Man Utd player who has 6 premier league titles, Chapions league medal in the bag & host of other medals is the anchor & vice captain of the team. He plays next to a England international with an all action style. On one wing we have the Irish legend & 2 time Premier League winner with all conquering Chelsea & on the other flank the hard working Argentinian international who helped his team mate last season become the top goal scorer in all of Spain. Back up: A youth product from the world famous Liverpool who was captain of the team the legend Bill Shankley said was the City of Liverpools 2nd greatest team. A French U21 international with pace who can beat man, plays left wing back for the French U21's & has played in many attacking positions for Newcastle United. A player who has who has won honors at club & international level: La Liga, Premier League, Champions League, Olympic gold etc but then when you have the ability to play for Real Madrid & Chelsea your going to win a few things has also been known to take a mean free kick. We also have a Uruguayan international on loan at the club.

Strikers: Ballon D'or winner & captain is the main man, the club paid a record transfer fee to sign this player from the world famous Real Madrid, he has been one of the greatest goal scorers in a England shirt ever & one of the best strikers of his generation & is still only 28. Next up the electrifying Nigerian with a rocket shot & it was no surprise we had to buy this chap off a top club like Inter Milan as talent like this does not play for s**** clubs. Back up: Local lad & youth Academy product who has played many times for the England U21's is on the verge of netting 50 goals for the club. A Aussie power house has scored goals for clubs all over the world & has silky skills for a big man. A Spanish U21 international who made his name in Spain while on loan in the lower leagues & has been on the rise ever since. Bubbling under: A prolific youth team striker who has ended up at St James Park with his starting point being Southampton which is the same starting point of club/England/Premier League legend Alan Shearer. A big old fashioned striker who has played & scored goals for  England U19's, he came through the youth ranks at Newcastle United. Another youth academy product who has been prolific for various England international youth teams.

Utility player: A real 100 per center this Yorkshire terrier is..........ah f*** it Alan Smith is s****.

Looking on the bright side:

I saw Alan Shearer driving out of St James in his big, black 4x4 after the game. He seemed smiley enough (although not as smiley as smiley, smiley carol Smiley)!

The sad thing is that there is very little exaggeration or hyperbole here. we do have many talented players who have accomplished alot.
