I tend to not use a pick. Not that I'm particularly good.

You don't have to use one specfic pick.

I'm all about the fingerpicking, Open_C... but i've got a few gigs lined up where i'm doing some more rhythm stuff so want a bit of a louder sound. Cheers for the tips.

If you're playing some strumming stuff, then use a pick which is a bit bendy (.7 or something similar). It'll produce a nice wholesome tone.

Agreed, that's what i wanted to hear.

I disagree, I use one at least 1.5mm as I prefer the more distinct sound that a plectrum like that creates.  A stiffer one is also good for the little "solo" fills that can make a busked accoustic cover version sound that little bit better.

 

Also I find the thinner ones tend to break easily which is a pain!
