Dave
Long time since I knew what was any good in bikes, but I still recognise some of the names on the Halfords website. Ignoring the fact that Halfords is probably the equivalent of Dixons/Currys, what brand and features should I be looking for? Just after a couple of bikes for me and the missus to potter about on locally. Not bothered about spending much more than a few hundred quid. Off for a look tomorrow. GG
Make sure it has two wheels and two brakes. And the more gears the better. Or something.

pedro111
The last time I rode a bike coincided with a trip to A & E with virtually no skin left on my elbows. Ah, thanks for opening that memory bank Dave....

Dave
Seriously though, does anyone know owt about frame sizes? I've seen a cracking deal on those two bikes, £30 less for each if I order tonight.
Mick
Seriously though, does anyone know owt about frame sizes? I've seen a cracking deal on those two bikes, £30 less for each if I order tonight. A lot of people go for bigger frames than they need but in reality the smaller frame you can get away with is best. Go to a local shop and try one, even if you don't buy off them. You want at least an Ali' frame and if you're going for suspension get one that you can lock off if possible because you lose speed because of it and you'll not if you can lock it off when you're on a hard surface. Adam
My new bike is 20" frame, how much you looking to spend, and what is the main purpose of it ?

Cheers mate, useful stuff there. My new bike is 20" frame, how much you looking to spend, and what is the main purpose of it ? A couple of hundred quid each I reckon. Just for pottering about and keeping fit, no serious stuff.
