MidfieldGeneral
Got a new pc a fortnight ago and when I first set it up everything was spot on. I use Utorrent to d/l stuff and because I connect to a private tracker my connection is normally fantastic. Over the last week it's started where I can't browse the net whilst Utorrent is running but my transfer rate whilst d/l was still around 850kb/s. Over the last 24 hrs that's declined rapidly. Up speed is fine and as it should be but down speed is awful. I've had a look about and I get the impression that torrent clients and Vista don't mix. Has anybody else found this and can anyone give me any advice ?
Guest Lazlo
Are you sure that it's not just the tracker host demanding a higher share ratio. If you can't browse the net while utorrent is running you have maybe set your upload speed too high, this can also have the effect of limiting connections if you're dedicating all of your upload speed to outbound traffic as it can't send requests efficiently. MidfieldGeneral
Cheers for replying guys. Lazlo I can't see it being any of the things you've mentioned mate. Not altered the settings which were fine for a week or so. Also if I'm downloading just one thing and its transferring at as little as 10kbp/s with nothing uploading, my webpages still time out until I comepletely shut down Utorrent. Biggs I've followed every step of that guide mate and by the looks of things my d/l speeds are nearly back to what they should be so thanks very much for that. Any ideas about the browsing ?? Guest Lazlo
Disabling DHT may help. It won't disrupt your downloading if you're on a private tracker.
