Greg
From the BBC; Plane crashes in New York River Plane in Hudson River Rescuers are attempting to keep the plane afloat while rescuing passengers A US Airways Airbus A320 passenger plane carrying 135 people has crashed into the Hudson River in New York, the Federal Aviation Administration says. Rescue boats and ferries are alongside the plane attempting to pick up people standing on both of the plane's wings. The plane, which the FAA said was flight 1549 from LaGuardia Airport to Charlotte, is partially submerged. It is not known how the plane came to land in the river, but the FAA said it might have been due to a bird strike.

I know what you mean! Aircraft are designed to make such landings when the conditions are suitable. Pilot clearly knows his stuff and done a brilliant thing. If those people believe in God who do they think had the flock of birds fly into the engines? They can't have it both ways. One of my favourite lines (as an atheist) in the new 'Rambo' film is when the ex-SAS guy tells the missionary "God didn't save you, I did!" Hail to the skill and training of the flight crew!
