Anyone tried the demo yet? it's on both Live and PS network i believe.

Must say it's 100% on my to buy list... loved the first game and the second carrys on in the same vain.. graphics are gorgeous and it's probably got the best 'horror' feel of any game on the 360 thus far and that's only going by the demo...

I was a bit sceptical about the inclusion of a mech in the game but it works really well and it's only optional that you use it anyway..

Anyone else played it? Thoughts?

Played the demo there...

Pretty good I thought. Very much like the first one, which isn't a bad thing. Was genuinely caught out with a few of the scares, very creepy in parts. Might get this one when it comes out...

Just tried the demo, it's pretty good. Love the physics when you shoot someone, the way the react to the bullet hitting them looks very realistic. Shame there's no tactical use for it, i.e shoot someone in the foot or leg and they'll walk with a limp or not being able to walk at all.

I've been hoping that this kind of thinking would be adopted in games for a long time. Would be fucking class if done well...  :snod:

Aye, it would, and I feel that this might be a step closer, like they are half way there. Considering the terrific A.I in the original, you have to wonder if not Monolith could have pulled it off in this. One thing I do like is that you've got legs. Pisses me off so much that there are so few FPS where your avatar has legs.

?

It's been around for a while, just most developers tend not to bother with it. Soldier of Fortune was doing it years ago, even Fable 2 has a system for it once you reach a certain level.

Dunno, never played Soldier of Fortune, and in Fable 2, it's not the same as I think Towelie meant. IMO This should be common place in FPS games. i.e If you clip an enemy on the arm, they can't hold the gun properly, or if you shoot his legs, he drops to the ground and tries to crawl away or whatever. It would make fire fights feel a lot more intense and 'realistic'....

I agree. It's also more effort for the developers to implement it though, and some games it just wouldn't be worth it (as in ones with lots of enemies on screen at any one time).

Aye, I know it'd be more effort, but, it would really make a difference, and if done properly, would revolutionize the genre. Well, that's my opinion anyway. Imagine CoD4 with that level of detail. Especially, considering the advances in the technology over the last 5-10 years, things like this and fully destructible environments should be more common place.

Really? I thought the graphics were stunning in parts imo...

That's exactly my point. They're clearly (and obviously) optimised for HD, not for people like myself with ye olde standarde definition.

Oh and another thing, I love slo-mo in games. FEAR would be a lot less unique without it and that goes for the Max Payne games too.

Another fan of slo-mo here. As long as the game is not solely built around it (I.E it needs to be a solid game even without it), it's always good fun, especially when the effects are done well. Don't think any game will ever top the Max Payne games when it comes to slo-mo, they got it just right.

Standard FPS with creepy shit added.

First one didn't do it so well, imo. This new one seems better. Haven't got a clue what's going on, story wise.

First one was a terrific game. Amongst the best A.I up to that point, incredible graphics and effects and with a very good slo-mo function. This, by the sound of things, does not live up to the original.
