Guest hindu times
Just a quick question to anyone here who studies at Durham Uni. I'm working with the help of Durham FM to organise 12 gigs per year in the colleges of the uni. These gigs will feature bands and solo artists from within each respective college. At the end of each night the crowd will get to vote for their favourite act and the winner will win a slot on Durham FM. Which colleges from the uni have the best venues? (whether it be JCRs or Bars etc.) Here is a facebook group dedicated to the events: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=60607333856 If you know anyone from Durham Uni in a band or performing their own music, tell them about this event and to submit their music to [email protected] Cheers,
AyeDubbleYoo
I was part of a society that used to organise events when I was at Durham, used to DJ for them as well. Didn't do many colleges though, they were all at the main union. From what I remember Hilde Bede has a decent venue, I played the ball there one year when Chesney Hawkes was on the bill! Me and you could share some stories, i used to DJ at college gigs to earn cash when i was there. My top 3 were Katrina and the Waves, The Farm and Rozalla. Nice I didn't do many balls, just club nights really... so not many embarassing bands. Played with Gwyneth Herbert, who's now a reasonably famous jazz/folk singer. Sorry h.t., don't have any contacts that are still there I'm afraid.
