Clay
Does anyone know if you can mix a small amount of alchohol with diazepam? I've got 10mg's in 2mg tablets to take tomorrow for anxiety symptons.... however there's a gathering at a pub afterwards and i'm wondering if i'll be able to mix any alchohol with it? Nothing excessive just 3 or 4 pints. I'm only asking as i've noticed a couple of people on here work in the medication industry (i think) or someone might have done it before and survived. I've searched on google but it's either fine or you die
Coco
I don't think you'll die, but it's not really advisable (as far as I can gather...) I know people who've been prescribed it, and also have a bit of a drinking problem, and they're still alive...

SAK
"Valium slows down the central nervous system and may intensify the effects of alcohol. Do not drink alcohol while taking Diazepam." http://www.drugs.com/pdr/diazepam.html Regarding the sources of their information: http://www.drugs.com/editorial_policy.html
Chrissy Bee
I wouldn't do it. Diazepam is used as an anxiolytic but also as a hypnotic and as you might have noticed if you've used it before (I hope you've just got a few for odd occasions - it's not a great idea to take them long term) it helps send you to sleep. This effect will be increased by the significant sedative properties of alcohol and you'll feel very drowsy quickly. It's one of the drugs you really shouldn't mix with drink. I spend £75 quid to get Paul McKenna to pop over, and I could have bought a tub of these bastards!
Big Geordie
Valium and drink doesn't make a good combination. If the OP is having anxiety problems - keep off the sauce and concentrate on getting yourself well again. Nights on the pop can always happen once you are back on form. Guest toonlass
Don't mix diazepam with alcohol. For fucks sake, if you need diazepam you shouldn't be drinking. You have enough on your plate without alcohol.
BlufPurdi
Nah, don't do it. Not worth the risk. I didn't think you could die, but I've heard (and seen) you can go way out of control. An old friend of mine did it about 5 years ago, and we spent the whole night trying to stop him destroying shop windows in the West End. It was remarkable he was never arrested. We found him the next night lying in a random close on the way to one of our friends. Incidently, that night, my then girlfriend also did it. Ended out being arrested with no trousers on, then wildly biting a copper. :nope:

Such a gay response but probably wise to follow CB's advice he is professional. Alcohol potentiates the action of diazepam. We know this as its a licensed drug. If you've taken it a few times, then you probably wouldnt notice anything if you have a couple of drinks. Large doses of both might be a little stupid. Wobbly eggs were very popular when i was young anyway.
relámpago blanco
I have a bad back (slipped disc) and was prescribed them to stop muscle spasms. As I was very bored at having to be housebound Ihad the odd drink, you can have 1 or 2 beers and you'll just feel more drunk and very relaxed but if you have more you'll probably fall asleep. All I can say it's bloody good fun..
Cajun
I used to do it quite a bit and I am not dead. Do you really need 5 though? Most I have taken at a time is 3 and that normally gets me nice and chilled.
Jill
I get Diazepam for flying, and I've mixed with alcohol before (3-4 x 2mg tablets, 3-4 pints) without too much trouble. Also done the same when I've had no sleep and it fucked me right over, I ended up in a total depressive state. Probably not the best idea like. If you do, I'd recommend limiting it to a pint or two and alternating with soft drinks, also take the minimum dose you can get away with.
Clay
It was fine btw.. only had a few pints spread over a couple of hours so didn't over do it.
Guest Micktoon
Use it when i fly. Mix it with copious quantities of vodka, works a treat.
ChezGiven
On the red-eye back from new york at the weekend got cunted in the continental lounge, took 3 prescription pain killers and then managed to sleep all the way home.
NE6
Had them a few times with drink when younger, fell through the back windscreen on a parked car, fuck knows how like. You'll be fine as long as you don't over do it on the drink.
Dr. TC
Sorry I didn't give this advice beforehand - only just come across the thread. Basically benzodiazepines and alcohol target the same receptors, so potentiate each others' effects. Recovering alcoholics in hospitals are given benzos to help with withdrawal. It's not like metronidazole where you get very ill, it just means that you can become very (dangerously) drunk on a much smaller quantity of booze than normal.
