I am, and its starting to piss me off, I was going to go travelling, then decided I should get  a job if I can. Looking for financial stuff and its pretty solid to get in most places. Whats everyone else doing?

Im graduating this year, started to look at graduate jobs but decided it better to concentrate on getting a good degree. It seems silly to secure a great job offer then miss out on a good degree classification, anybody who has looked for graduate positons will understand the time commitment required for the application process. Im quite fortunate in as much as i did a 12 month placement so hopefully that will help me out a little bit once ive graduated.

I have been fast-tracked through the application processes for five companies this year, skipping the phone interviews and application form stages, and the companies have sent/are sending people to Leeds for the interviews so I haven't had to travel which has been nice especially considering the weather.

Why don't you keep your traveling plan?

It will be extremely difficult to have enough time off for traveling once you start working.

I had just finished all my 21 days paid holiday quota for 2008. That means I will not have any holiday till June at least. How sad is that? (I love traveling)

For anyone graduating this year, don't be downheartened if you are fortunate to get interviews but then hear nothing for months.

A lot of firms will be interviewing etc now onwards but will be holding back until the last minute to start offering contracts so that they can see where they wil be in 6 months time.

On a side note, I believe that most of the big accountancy firms are taking on comparable numbers of graduates as last year. Its a tough joba nd not to everyones taste, but ts well rewarded and opens a lot of doors for 3-5 years down the line
