Syrette
... can't you just leave them alone (yet again)? http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3i8bd9b0da7b2e5cc5e358d3a30b9ee5ac Emmanuelle Chriqui, who plays Sloan on HBO's "Entourage," is joining the cast of Gela Babluani's "13," a remake of the French thriller "13 Tzameti." Michael Shannon, Ben Gazzara and Alex Skarsgard also recently have been added to the cast, which includes Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, 50 Cent, Ray Winstone and Sam Riley. "13" concerns a young man who is forced to participate in a high-stakes game of Russian Roulette where wealthy gamblers bet on human lives. Rick Schwartz, Aaron Kaufman and Valerio Morabito are producing. Myles Nestel, Anthony Callie, Douglas Kuber, Ron Hartenbaum, Alan Bernon and Brian Edwards are exec producing. Overnight Prods. is producing the film alongside Barbarian Films and Morabito Picture Co. Paramount Vantage will handle international sales on the film, while Endeavor is repping North American rights. I was kind of hoping this remake had been canceled or something, till I came across this recent bit of news which shows it is still well in production. One of my favourite films of the last few years, remade in colour, and with that honestly offensive cast. Stathan hasn't been in a watchable film in years and 50 Cent can't act, but of course he's a well known musician (and in my opinion an awful one at that) so he'll get the nod ahead of actors who struggle to get parts but can actually act. Quadrophenia was the last film Winstone was in that I really think much of (that wasn't a remake either). Why is Hollywood so afraid of originality?
