FM 2010 Thread

Early again I know but what features would like to see added for FM2010?

Would would you like changed or taken out?

I'll pass on any suggestions to the powers that be.

For me I was a little disappointed with FM2009 to be honest, I think the 3d graphics needs a lot of work but here are just a few ideas;

The introduction of agents, being able to build relationships with the slime balls, min fee release clauses being generally hidden but agents can alert you to them if they're trying to flog their client, perhaps include the ability to leak things to the press yourself.

Future transfer fees based on winning things etc.

Match day squads for a away games.

Non league part time playings being more set to a region, in reality most part time players will not move to another part of the country due to their other work commitments.

Improvement to press conferences, not sure what as yet but something has to be done.

DoF's that recommend players and buy over your head, perhaps for the users that don't want to get into the training and tactic side of the game (there are a fair few out there) then this could be a role taken on by the end user.

There's a few other things that need to be address that I can't discuss on here such as research guidelines etc.

So any other ideas?

Fuck me I've done this exactly a year to do the day of the last one without knowing, freaky.

I think you're a day early. Still, quite freaky

My main issue with 09 has been the utter wanktastic shite press conferences. If something needs fixing, that should be on top of the list.

Yeah because it's after midnight it's showing as both being on the 22nd when the other one was late at night on the 22nd, strange anyway as I only made this thread as I had just been reading a similar thread on our research forums.

Actually i was thinking about this about 10 minutes ago. There should be an option where you can play dirty with an opposition player (i,e cynical). You know when your assistant tells you to "go in hard but fair" on a player? there should be an option where you can tell your player to play dirty (ie grab shirt ect).

Make scouting more realistic.

Hate how easy scouting is and signing young players is pretty much risk free since you have a very good and accurate prediction of their potential ability. Send a single person to scout Brazil, then get a report within 2-3 months, sign the players with the highest PA ability for a few few hundread thousand pounds. Then a few years they'll be 1st team players or in worst case you'll be able to sell them for multiple what you paid for them. They said that they made clubs value their best young players more realistically in this version, so far that hasn't been the case with clubs in Brazil.

i can only think of a few right now, but there'll be more:

- inserting a "loan back" option in transfers (like if man united bought a cardiff player and would then loan them back for the rest of the season)

- more interaction between feeder/parent clubs. nothing ever happens....

- BRING BACK THE STADIUM BACKGROUNDS!!! haha, i cant remember which game they stopped this, but I liked clicking on NUFC's page and getting SJP in the background.

- control other aspects of the club, like finance or a new kit etc. (without taking too much focus away from the footy)

- out of the box idea: "football assistant manager". the player can become an assistant manager instead....this would add new life to the game i believe.

- and also give the game a facelift because i'm bored of the way it looks

Apart from sorting out injury bugs, inflated transfer fees (or teams just remarkably unwilling to sell players for ridiculous fees) and the general realisticness of 2d and 3d, I think the game should just be harder. It shouldn't be easy to take a team in div 1 up to the Premiership and then in a few seasons break the top 4 and then win the CL a couple of seasons after that. It just doesn't happen in real life (unless supremely good financial and tactical management). Make it harder to win matches away from home. Make it harder to find good young players (even with all the resources available to the biggest of teams, many of them still don't unearth that many good youngsters until they're 21 or so and they have to pay £15-20m for them, but in the game the scouting is ridiculously easy). I suppose some gamers derive enjoyment from instant success so maybe a 'difficulty' setting could be included? Easy, medium and expert, with expert just making it extremely tough to win anything unless you are dedicated to all facets of the game (fully planned training, adapting new tactics for different matches, better AI response to teams which are static in terms of tactics from season-to-season). By this last point, I mean that you rarely have teams who play one system through many years and remain successful. Change happens and is forced by how other teams figure out your style and plan against it. Make this an aspect of the game.

Bring In

"Loan back" option in transfers

Ability to call a press conference on a certain subject

More reply options when asked about a former player's return

Manager feedback from a loan/feeder club on how your player has done

The ability to give feedback to a club on how their loan player has been for you

An actual crowd in 3D mode opposed to a pink line

Take Out

Sliders

Don't know if it's been fixed in the coming update, but when I loan out a player, I get the option for "Martin Wilkinson" to provide match reports, despite the fact he left the club over 2 seasons ago now.

Assistant feedback, because it's unneccessary, picky, and crap

The fact it automatically transfer lists and gives a status of "not needed" when you offer a player to clubs

No. Disagree.

Anyway, unless they sort out the bugs and crashes I'm not gonna buy it. Bought it this year, but eventhough I play it and enjoy it, it fucking annoys me that I paid £40 to hear people struggling with registration and bugs. Seriously.

Either do away with the press conferences or some how develop a way that the questions are different and relevant to the upcoming matches and issues.

Fix the transfers so that you don't have to pay £12m for average players and the like.

Being able to unsettle a player a club won't sell you so that they hand in a transfer request and force the clubs hand.

The ability to swap players on loan. Like Mido and King. The fact that players like Smith can't be sold for £0 still baffles.

And possibly the potential to suggest players to other managers like Wenger with Palacios.

Why not.

You can "Build up friendships" just another way of building, means he may sell you a player in return. I can see why its disliked so ok then.

But my first points stand, also under board requests if possible the option for "More money to invest in youth". There's been a few times my budget has allowed me to miss out on good players who only cost couple of hundred thousand.

Guest optimistic nit

i think most of the ideas in the op are a bit cack tbh.

the game is good at the moment regarding its features. it has a lot of features to make it realistic ish without overwealming the user. all of those would make it more complicated imo while subtracting some of the fun from the game, even if it was slightly (only slightly) more realistic.

imo most of the effort should go to improving a) the editor, it would be good if you could have more control over the fm world you are playing in b) the match engine, especially the 3d aspect and c) regens. the feeder clubs bit could also be a bit more realistic.

instead of adding new features they should make the ones they have better imo as its got the right level of complicatedness at the moment.

building up friendships with managers who could in turn be more lenient with you regarding transfer fees could be a good addition though. also the media interactions could be improved slightly. i'm not a big fan of the press conferences.

i dont need new features, i just need 2 believe that the current features are worthwhile. the features like press conferences, transfer rumour stuff etc... they just arent good enough. there is no consequence to these actions, so why arse.
