Protein shakes and creatine.

Anyone take this stuff?

I've been taking protein shakes for about three months now ( maximuscle, whey protein), but I've not yet used creatine. I've seen a massive difference in the tone of my body, and a slight weight increase ( bout seven lbs), but I've not bulked up ( i suppose thats where the creatine comes in)

Just wondering how many people use both, or either of them, and what results did you get.

Also, have you tasted one thats nice yet?  I've had to gee myself up sometimes because they just taste like arse juice.

Maximuscle can be quite expensive if thats what brand your using.  I got that Cyclone a while back but then found a website that does the same thing but calls it Hurricane - see what they did there :)  There's an excellent range of supplements and you can tailor them to your own needs (flavour, size etc).  The chocolate flavour is pretty spot on tbh

You do weight training along with drinking the shakes?

The quickest whey to lose £££'s use Maximuscle.

Go to http://www.myprotein.co.uk/ & save a fucking bundle of £££'s

Cheers davy! Aye the maximuscle is quite pricey like.

Yeah SUPERTOON, I lift free weights every other day, and obviously jog every other day too.

I don't want to be massive, just increase my size a bit, and tone up ( which has already happened).

I use nutri-sport as my protien shake.  (10lbs for £45, good price that) Havent used creatine yet....but I will do soon.

wouldn't bother with maximuscle, mate. Yes they do make good products but there are better alternatives out there. I hear hurricane is as good as cyclone but cheaper.

May be different for different people, but if you keep lifting weights, gradually increasing the weight you lift and drink the protein shakes after, then you should bulk up.

I drank Whey Protien every day for about 6 months whilst doing weights etc and tbh I didnt put on that much muscle.

I guess I am just naturally wiry but really I dont think it was worth it tbh.

I would love to find a safe product that really works.  If your naturally slim putting on muscle is a nightmare.

Just found that site the other day myself. Starting to get back into my old routine but need to get a new blender this week. Any recommend some decent protein powders?

Myprotein is by far the best stuff out there, stay well clear of Maximusucle and the rubbish they sell in holland and Barrets, i personally prefer the chocalte mint flavour mixed with milk.

Stay away for just the price, or the fact that it's an inferior product?

Never used anything, I train almost every night and have done since I was a teenager, 42 now.

I think that you will get better and quicker results if suppliments are used, I consider myself to be quite strong in terms of what I can shift but, my muscle tone is not great, maybe that is my age.  I used to be very lean and muscularnow just bulky.

Keep thinking I should try Creatine for a couple of months but, worried that my clothes won't fit anymore!!

Remember reading somewhere like that it is much easier to turn fat into muscle than it it to build new muscle 'on-the-fly.'

Protein shakes are meant to be on top of a strict diet and working out btw, you probably wont see any effective results unless you do all 3. Chicken and eggs everyday would be ideal, with abit of pasta aswell. Just drink a few eggs in the morning rocky style

Ive tried most of them, i think you need to remember that the 'results' depend very much on yourself. I used to use maximuscle progain, trained lots had a good programme etc and really got some good results. Moved on to myprotein for a while and to be honest it wasnt right for me, it didnt appear to be doing anything and if anything i was losing muscle size which isnt a good sign. Since then ive moved onto USN protein (think its called IGF), it is expensive but very good, of all the ones ive tried its easily the best, good results and also much easier to drink as it seems to be smoother. Lately ive stopped going to the gym, reaching the end of uni so dont have the time for it, but when i get back into it USN will be where my money will go.

Re not eating enough, you are probably right.  I made a concious effort to eat a good source of protien at every meal, I was having at least 3 eggs a day sometimes up to 5.  Was eating a lot of lean beef and some chicken plus 2 protien milkshakes everyday

Honestly, I feel that eating anymore than I was would have made me have bad guts and being on the toilet all day (which is not good! )

Re not lifting heavy enough weights, well you're probably right too, I was working out to failure everytime with free weights, pressups pullups/chinups etc aswell as using bodylastics which can offer some great resistance.  Sure I wasnt at the gym using the big bench press machines or owt but my routine f***ed me everytime and I would gradually make it harder and harder.

Dont get me wrong my arms and chest became hard as steel and had a nice shape its just that I didnt actually put that much muscle on.

Think I am going to get back into it soon tbh.

You want to bulk up you need to be eating a tremendous amount of food each day - all good clean stuff too. Anywhere between 3000 - 5000 calories a day depending on current size and shape.

Protein shakes are supplements and nothing more. The body needs protein to build the muscles and it's common knowledge in the bodybuilding world that muscles aren't made in the weights room, but in the kitchen.
