Heard about this earlier - not good at all. Hope that the bad old days aren't returning, given the progress that's been made in the last decade.

They're not. The 'Real' IRA are a minority group. The problem is, they still have their hands on the firepower necessary to carry out this kind of attack.

They have been shooting the shit out of cars etc around the area where I live for about 2 years now, this kind of thing was always coming. I take it they were responsible for the bomb last week in Belfast?

My worry is that the police might call on the army to sort these lads out, if there is a serious army presence over here again, people will get restless tbh and it may kick off again, but the possibility of that is very small of course.

Ahh relics of a  gone by age who cant give it up as its all they know.

Fuck off wankers you are not relevant anymore.

How? Their objective is to rid Ireland of British rule by means of violence. The Brits are still in Ireland, so groups like this will still be here.

They just dont care, if the Brits are back on the streets patrolling because of the RIRA's stunts, who will be the first to complain? Yep, the RIRA. I was fully behind the IRA of yesterday and would probably have ended up a member if it was still going* (and that is simply down to where I grew up, when in Rome etc), but now all i see is the politics, fighting with words not weapons. Pretty much everyone over here is like that.

*For what it is worth, I have nothing against the English, I have family there and Newcastle is my 2nd favourite city, 2nd to Dublin. So dont hate ;)

Every people has a right to independence. NI's fight has been a legitimate one and history shows the people simply wish to 'get on with things' as they don't see real independence a possibility anymore, so might as well, as you said, get on with things.

he Real IRA "South Antrim unit" claimed responsibility in a phone call to the Sunday Tribune paper in Dublin.

In a statement, the paper said: "The caller said he made no apologies for targeting British soldiers while they continued to occupy Ireland and also said he made no apologies for targeting the pizza delivery men who, he said, were collaborating with the British by servicing them."

:idiot2:

I truly hope the fight isn't dead, but how near are you to your goal compared to any point in your illustrious history? Genuine question, actually, it's not everyday I get to speak to a real Irishman about this stuff.

Hmmm

Idependence, I'm sure the UK would gladly get rid of NI in a flash due to the amount it costs the UK but some of the locals want to remain as part of the UK.

Maybe they should convince them that it would be a better Ireland  without the UK involved and not do it through killing people.
