Big Geordie
Just wondering if anyone had any experience of dealing with benefit fraud? First off - it's not me who is committing this offence and I'm not really prepared to say anymore than that for obvious reasons. Suffice to say that's why I'm wanting to find out as much info as I can about it, before the next step is taken. I know there's a hotline that you can ring and that you can also report it online too. Just wondering about what the implications are for those who are caught.
madras
i'd guess at least a reduction in there beneifts till it is paid back, fines and ultimatley prison.
GM
Benefit fraud is one of those things that gets blown out of all proportion by the media. The way the government adverts on TV go on, you'd think it was more serious tham the shit Josef Fritzl got up to. Suffice to say, yes it's bad and you can be imprisoned for it. indi
I think they get turned into a Mysteron agent, don't they?
Fenham Mag
I think prison is a bit harsh for the crime. A fine + all the undeserved benefits paid back and a criminal record is enough.

Gash
So they should. People work for liars to sit at home saying they are ill/whatever. Fair enough i know a couple of people that can't work, but some need to be taught a real lesson!
Thespence
A customer fiddled approx £30K in benefit, I know he got 6 weeks inside, not sure what repayments or reduction in benefits though.

GM
Never understood the logic in imprisoning a benefit fraudster (at the taxpayers' expense!). Can only assume that it's cheaper than having them in the 'free' world, scamming benefits and being on the rob.
Guest toonbaz
the worst thing is the majority of people caught commiting benefit fraud will still be allowed to claim benefits again after being caught.

Good point, they should be forced to pay, aswell as there cheated benefits, some part of there imprisoned time! It really annoys me how my family all work hard for what we have then there is scumbags who want something for nothing!

There's nothing to discuss, they want to get off their fat fucking arses and find any form of employment, even if it's just a frigging paper round.
