Shearer9
Just reformatted my computer with Windows XP, it's working pretty well, but I've run into a really annoying problem. Whenever I plug in my iPod or external hard drive, the computer freezes almost immediately. No blue screen, no error messages, just total freeze, major system error. When I plug these devices in, either before or after start up, it will always freeze, usually happens faster if I'm actively reading or writing to the drive. Couldn't even do a 3 minute file transfer earlier today because it crashes that fast. I'm really at a loss for what to do about this, when I submitted the error report to Windows they basically said to reinstall all software, drivers, and hardware to try and find the problem. Not helpful at all. Anyone got any ideas?
wacko
Does the same happen with all USB ports? If you're using the front ones, try the back ones. Could be a driver problem with the USB hub. Have you added the service packs?
