University Of Hull

Little brother got in, and since i'm paying the bills (international student ffs) + accommodation, I was just wondering if it was any good.

I've been there since last September. It's alright - cracking people and a very good social scene (what uni doesn't, though?) I only ended up applying on the off-chance in late August and got in, for Sports it's right up there and getting a better reputation with every passing year.

Not as good a night out as Glasgow or Newcastle, but I'm enjoying it far more than I did those two. The university itself is decent, certainly speaking from a personal perspective, and seems to be improving all of the time in regards to lecturer quality, available amenities and facilities.

The city is a dive like, although great if you like the Polish. Makes me appreciate Newcastle far more than I ever have before.

It's a horrible city but livable.

The main downfall with Hull and the surrounding area is that it's not really near anywhere. I studied at Derby uni and that is really close to Sheffield, Nottingham, Birmingham etc. but Hull is a bit further from other major cities.

Are the sports teams any good, Rich? I know that Lincoln have some good sports teams but I can't remember ever playing Hull in the BUSA football leagues..

The University is very good, yes.

The city is a bit crappy, lots of slaggy girls who are easy though, a high percentage are fitties

Where've they been all my life? I think I need to get out more.

I was talking more of the Sports Science side than the team side of things, but I haven't heard too much noise about any team performance. I just know that we're getting a lot of junior-elite athletes coming (some semi-professionals, etc.) for the sports courses, but I would assume as most are participating regionally, nationally or internationally that they wouldn't bother representing the university. We have a few lads who've joined our Intramural team from the university third team (men's football) who are dogdirt like, so I can't imagine the football team is too brilliant.

Just discovered this thread, I am a first year at hull and as has been said earlier, it is a very good university in an underrated city, yes it looks a bit rank in places especially on bev road and near the KC but has a decent city-centre which is quite comparable with newcastle in terms of shops. The nightlife isn't bad either, sugarmill on a monday night is quality for students, old town int bad either on a thursday or a saturday and asylu,m at the uni on the wednesday is good but as was said before is full of slags with the large percentage of them playing netball

Hull's a bit of a shithole, but a good laugh. Don't buy the line they tell you about not having a good chance of getting a room in student halls if you insist on a single room. There's a good chance he'll get first dibs on accommodation as an overseas student, though.
