In answer to your question, yes I f***ing love Northumberland!

There's nothing I like better than getting on my motorbike and going for a blast out of the city and into the beautiful remote countryside or along the coast past all the castles, sometimes making it all the way to Berwick. Infact I did just that the other day when the weather was fine!, what a way to spend an afternoon. I also love going for a blast over to the lakes aswell from time to time!

I'll watch that programme tomorrow.

Northumberland is alright...nothing special though really, is it?  :undecided:

The coastline is and the castles are world class, plus in places it gives the impression of being really remote without that actually being the case, which is fantastic. So yeah, it is pretty special tbh.

I really miss Northumberland. Most of all I miss various spots along Hadrian's Wall, especially the stretch from Housteads to the Twice Brewed. I miss the walk from Craster to Dunstonburgh, getting a boat from Seahouses to see seals and cormorants at the Farne Islands, watching cricket at Bamburgh in the shadow of the castle – surely one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world. I also miss strolling to the walled garden at Wallington Hall through the woods where my parents' ashes are scattered. No other countryside seems quite the same to me.

There's other parts of the UK that are every bit as special, if not moreso. I know this view will grate with some people, but it's just a view, and nothing else.

Guest timmy boy

I used to love going to Seahouses as a kid. I had a caravan there. I used to play cricket at the top of the caravan park, go fishing off the pier, make trips up to Bamburgh and have a walk along the beach, make trips over to the Farne Islands and I used to love the fish and chips. Great times, I always love going back, got such fond memory's of the place.

For some reason we were talking about the Romans over lunch at work, the lad here doesn't know much outside of Blyth let alone history. Canny lad tho.......

he said

"The Roman wall was a bit s*** really"

"hows that?"

"well its only 4 feet high, it would never have stopped anyone"

the best parts of northumberland (in my personal opinion) are the college and harthope and breamish valleys) where you can walk for hours, not to streniously if you don't want, and not see anyone else. climb a hill and theres a hillfort, the histroy of the area is amazing

Love the place. grew up there and always enjoy going back - thankfully no bastard in the south knows where it is so it's still unspoilt and not packed full of tourists

Although if you go to places like Amble, you're likely to get a kicking for looking at someone wrong...or standing in the wrong place...or breathing wrong..
