Anyone else enjoy this?

I've never liked flight sims before, usually quite complicated/boring, but I really like this at the moment.

Haven't taken it online yet, but the campaign is decent so far.

One of the downsides is you never seem to see anything you're fighting against, you can take things out from so far away!

(Sorry if there's already a thread, I did search, honest!)

Thats exactly why I am not playing this game, its too arcadey, fire off 100 missiles to shoot down 40 planes in one mission type of thing.

To me that is more boring than a proper sim.

Never really liked the Ace Combat series either.

'Ace Combat 6' is the first 'Ace Combat' game I've played. I used to play flight simulators back in the 8 bit, 16 bit and PC days. 'Ace Combat 6' is arcadey in so far as you carry a lot of weapons (but they aren't unlimited) but the rest of the game is comparable to the simulations I used to play.

Also, the Tom Clancy name was always synonymous with realism.

Lending his name to this game has cheapened the Tom Clancy brand imo.

Not sure, to me it means exciting games with intuitive control systems, which this one definitely has.

I agree it's not in the same league as Rainbow 6 etc though.

The Tom Clancy name has been going downhill for a while. Rainbow 6: Raven Shield was the last of the heavily realistic games. Since then they have opted to sacrifice on realism in favour of more action driven games. This isn't to say the games are less enjoyable as the likes of Rainbow 6: Vegas are fun. However it seems they are aiming at appealing to the masses more now than they did when they were releasing primarily PC titles.

The main thing wrong with this, IMO, is the broken camera. The load times are ridiculous too.

Looking forward to seeing what Yahtzee has to say about it.

Didn't he already review it? Think he liked it a bit. That off mode camera was some shit until I figured out the controls.
