Vauxhall Vectra SRi 1997 2.0l

Does anyone know does the above Vectra have a Timing Chain rather then belt, and if so, does this still need to be replaced every 40-70k?

 

 

Also if anyone knows any good techy websites where i might find some more info on said car would be much appreciated

3, Do all SRI’s have a Chainbelt instead of a Cambelt?, or is it only the later models? (Does the Chainbelt need to be changed like a Cambelt would?)

its just the 2.2 (150's) that have the chains,and they did have a recall on them,so check for knocking n rattling from chain end,try and find out if it has been done.

 

3) Only the 2.2 were chain belt and i am pretty sure (someone correct me if i'm wrong) they last a lot longer than a cambelt.

 

Doesn't specify what year though. Might be worth making a thread on that forum asking.

chains DO last a lot longer than belts but they can get slack -I wouldn't bother to replace it unless you are sure its causing  a problem TBH
