No one on any money will be willing to stay around anyway. Can't see Owen/Viduka/Duff etc hanging round to ply their trade in the fizzy pop.

I could see Duff staying. Plus Owen and Viduka are out of contract anyway.

It's one thing agreeing a fee with a club for a player, but if the buying club doesn't offer similar wages to what the player is already on here then can you see them wanting to take a massive pay cut?

For example, Smith will be on about £50k-£60k a week, not many clubs in the Premier League will offer him these wages anymore, considering how long he has gone without a goal and his time here hasn't exactly been full of fantastic performances. We could easily agree a fee in the region of £3m for Smith, but if the buying club doesn't offer him a decent wage he might decide to stay here. Thats where we'll encounter problems with some of our higher earners. Thankfully Owens contract is up, so is Vidukas, Martins will find a decent club who will match his wage here, it's players like Duff, Barton, Geremi we will struggle to shift.

The only players I can see staying are Harper, Taylor x 2, Guthrie, Lovenkrands, Carroll and Shola.

The rest will be gone. Even the likes of Smith will find buyers (Moyes bid 3m last year and he's a good manager!).Geremi will go to Europe, Blackburn will take Nolan. Xisco, Jonas, Colo and Enrique will go back to Spain, Barton will go to a club who have no money and will therefore take the gamble. Beye, Bassong and Martins will find clubs easy. Duff will probably be picked up by a promoted side maybe Birmingham. Hopefully a promoted club will take Butt as well.

If you could offset the loss of going down against the save in wages, we might be able to spend a bit of the money we bring in from sales which will probably be about 40m.

I'd imagine we'll end up paying a percentage of the wages of players even after they've left.

For instance, some mis-guided Premiership team wants Alan Smith but doesn't want to take on his 50k a week. Smith doesn't want to take a pay cut either, so we end up paying about 15k a week off his wage at the new club just to be rid of him.

Kind of a kick in the balls, eh?
