I'm just curious more than anything else...how much would you recommend you would need to be earning in order to rent your own flat? I appreciate it depends on the area you want to live in and size of the place, etc. Please take all things into consideration too like food, water, etc, as I am trying to get a good idea for the near future.

At least £500 per month plus rent.

So say £600 if you found somewhere cheap and decent enough?

I'd expect 'decent' to cost much more than £100 per month. Try tripling it at least.

If youre flat sharing in Heaton you need to be earning at least £500 a month. But dont expect to have a life on top of that.

What does tipling mean?

Anyhoo, aye - i've asked for my Dads advice and he said you want to be earning at least around £200 a week before you think of moving into your own place by yourself. Unless you are moving in with other people he said...

Just thought I would ask for other peoples advice too. I trust my Dad like...

One thing I will say...you'll go out less and spend less if you move in with friends. Basically, it feels like going out just by meeting in the living room. Its fucking brilliant.

I live with four other lads in a huge place in Tynemouth. We pay 300 a month, all inclusive.

We even pitched in and got ourselves a hot-tub for the bitches ( not for the hay romps, as I expect will be hinted at)
